Description We are in search of an Assistant Controller to join our team in the construction industry in West Point, Virginia. This role will involve overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing support for decision-making processes. Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract administration, and general ledger entries. Manage key areas of accounting including intercompany transactions, fixed assets, intangibles, and cash. Assist with overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process. Participate in internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings. Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. Provide support to Project Management on all accounting related matters. Review job budgets with the Vice President of Operations, Project Manager, and Controller prior to setup in the system. Setup new jobs, cost codes, budgets, and perform monthly reporting for review with Project Management and the Vice President of Operations. Mentor and train junior staff members in accounting principles and best practices. Handle other projects as defined. Skills needed for this role include proficiency in Accounting Software Systems, ADP - Financial Services, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP Solutions, Great Plains (GPAC), Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Auditing, Budget Processes, Construction, Construction Accounting, Construction Cost, Construction Industry, and Construction Projects - Accounting. Requirements Proven experience as an Assistant Controller or other similar position for at least 5 years Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Experience with ADP - Financial Services Adept at utilizing ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions Knowledge of Great Plains (GPAC) is necessary Understanding of Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Skilled in Auditing and Budget Processes Familiarity with Construction, Construction Accounting, Construction Cost, and Construction Industry is a plus Experience in Construction Projects - Accounting is beneficial Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field is a must Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is preferred Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
