The role will promote, support, and advocate for individuals residing in underserved communities across the Charlottesville region. We are seeking a highly proficient candidate who will focus on proactively identifying, developing, and training a pipeline of marginalized community members to meet our goal of “Getting Community Members through the UVA Door.” The ideal candidate fulfills the mission of service to local citizens by supporting access to education, training, advocacy, and networking in the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Nelson, and Louisa.This team member will execute best-in-class service in generating job seeker interest utilizing multiple candidate engagement strategies including networking and collaborating with community resource partners, coordinating and attending community events, and providing direct case management, career services, and training opportunities to program participants. The desirable candidate will have a proven track record of working with marginalized populations; developing and coordinating educational and training programs for underserved job seekers; and helping individuals address barriers to employment through case management. The candidate should also be able to teach/present training on various workplace readiness topics.The Community Outreach Specialist - Training will focus on developing, implementing, and evaluating training opportunities for Pipelines & Pathways participants to ensure that they have the workplace readiness and technical skills needed to be successful on the job. In addition to this, the candidate is expected to intake program participants to determine their qualifications and identify employment opportunities for them within the Academic Division and Health System. This involves recruiting, case managing, and facilitating connections between participants and hiring managers to bridge the gap from unemployment to employment. The role resides within the University Human Resources Talent Flexibility Department and reports to the Manager of Pipelines and Pathways Community Connections. The role is supported by a Community Outreach Specialist – Marketing and two Opportunity Navigators.The primary duties of this position are to:

Cultivate and maintain mutually beneficial relationships across various local workforce agencies, organizations, and networks.

Develop and coordinate job-readiness education and training programs, community outreach and empowerment initiatives, and recruitment efforts and talent solutions targeted at meeting the needs of marginalized community members within the local community.

Provide training to program participants on workplace readiness topics such as resume writing, interviewing, dressing for success, etc.

Work with Pipelines and Pathways participants to identify employment opportunities at UVA and gain access to community resources to help them address any barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.

Case manage Pipelines and Pathways participants to ensure a highly customized employment journey at UVA including helping with submitting online applications, creating resumes, mock interviewing, making connections with local resources to assist with barriers, facilitating connections with recruiters and hiring managers, and following up with participants regularly once they are employed at UVA.

Monitor the web portal that hosts all job content for positions within scope.

Ensure local community partners and hiring managers experience customer-focused recruitment services.

Serve as a liaison between community partners, COE Leads, Talent Recruitment Teams, Human Resources Business Partners, schools, and organization leadership to effectively ensure the success of the program.

Prepare and present metrics/analytics to management including the current state of our talent pipelines, critical roles, engagement, and talent development efforts to inform recruitment strategy and ensure the success of the pipeline function

Participate in, engage with, and contribute to Pipelines and Pathways social media efforts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, videos, photos, etc.).

Seek opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and services in support of assigned budget.

In addition to the above responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.The salary range for this position is $60,000-70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.Experience:

One year of relevant experience is required, three years of relevant experience is highly preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with individuals with diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

Ability to provide consultative support to candidates including referrals to address issues of support services.

Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects simultaneously, monitor progress towards the goals and track outcomes.

Ability to successfully utilize technology-driven platforms to display product knowledge and perspective to establish a professional rapport and add to the program experience.

A readiness to irregularly work inconsistent hours, including weekends and evenings when necessary.
