Job Summary

Maximus is searching for a Cybersecurity Architect to support a DoD program in Arlington, VA.

Candidate will provide subject matter expertise to the Director, Cybersecurity Directorate and support to senior level leadership within the Office of the Deputy Chief Information Officer, Special Access Programs Information Technology (DCIO SAP IT). The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of cybersecurity solutions and strategies for the DCIO SAP IT Cybersecurity Directorate. Moreover, the candidate is responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing security measures to protect the Department's information systems, networks, and data from cyber threats against the backdrop to support and defend policy decisions, synchronize investments, and drive actionable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with Department of Defense regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of cybersecurity solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security technologies.
  • Conduct security assessments and audits to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans and procedures to address cybersecurity incidents.
  • Stay current on emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies, and recommend appropriate security measures.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on cybersecurity to management and staff and provide guidance and training on security best practices.
  • Adhere to best practices and processes around work assignments, project management and quality of output.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • 10+ years' experience working in support of DoD programs.
  • 5+ years DoD Information Technology and Cybersecurity experience.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience in support of special access program (SAP)
  • Experience working at the OSD, Joint Staff or Service Staff level.
  • Strong writing and communication skills to communicate to senior government and/ military personnel.
  • Possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in order to operate within the DoD environment.
  • Possess interpersonal skills and experience supporting decision making for senior DOD leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including network security, encryption, authentication, and access control.
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks, such as NIST and ISO
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to master other computer applications quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic work environment and ability to coordinate and perform multiple assignments.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
