Job Summary
Maximus is searching for a Cybersecurity Engineer to join a DoD program in Arlington, VA.Candidate will provide subject matter expertise to the Director, Cybersecurity Directorate and support to senior level leadership within the Office of the Deputy Chief Information Officer, Special Access Programs Information Technology (DCIO SAP IT). The candidate will be responsible for providing cybersecurity engineering support for Department of Defense DCIO SAP IT systems and networks. The position involves developing, implementing, and maintaining cybersecurity measures to protect classified information and critical infrastructure belonging to DCIO SAP IT Cybersecurity Directorate. Moreover, the candidate will help identify and provide strategic solutions to support and defend policy decisions, synchronize investments, and drive actionable outcomes. Key Responsibilities included, but are not limited to:- Develop and implement cybersecurity measures to protect DoD systems and networks against unauthorized access, exploitation, and data exfiltration.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
- Design, develop, and implement security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Monitor network traffic and system logs for anomalies and suspicious activity.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats and trends, and implement new security measures as necessary.
- Work with other members of the cybersecurity team to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to other members of the IT team on cybersecurity best practices.
- Work with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation of cybersecurity incidents.
- Adhere to best practices and processes around work assignments, project management and quality of output.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related field.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- 10+ years' experience working in support of DoD programs.
- 5+ years DoD Information Technology and Cybersecurity engineering experience.
- 5+ years experience in support of special access program (SAP)
- Sound understanding and knowledge of DoD cybersecurity regulations and guidelines, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST and ISO
- Experience working at the OSD, Joint Staff or Service Staff level.
- Strong writing and communication skills to communicate to senior government and/ military personnel.
- Possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in order to operate within the DoD environment
- Experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability scanners.
- Possess interpersonal skills and experience supporting decision making for senior DoD leadership.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including network security, encryption, authentication, and access control.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to master other computer applications quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic work environment and ability to coordinate and perform multiple assignments.
- Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH, are a plus
