Client : State of Virginia Job Title: Data Protection Analyst Duration: 3 Months Start Date: ASAP Location: 1111 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23219 (Hybrid) Position Type: Contract Interview Type: Web Cam Interview Only CIEPAL ID: SVADPA971SN Req ID : ODGA - Data Protection Analyst (705971) Description: State of Virginia Virginia Information Technology Agency The Data Protection Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the privacy and security of data managed by the Virginia Office of Data Governance and Analytics. The analyst will work with various agencies to monitor data security and ensure issues are remediated. They will also design and prepare reports and presentations explaining data protection and privacy in a high-quality, informative, engaging, and easily understood manner. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 5-7 years working as a data analyst and 5-7 years of security-related experience. Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the identification, classification, and protection of structured and unstructured data.
- Document and maintain classification and sensitivity standards.
- Perform and monitor the effectiveness of data security controls using data protection tools.
- Collaborate with various agencies to monitor data security and ensure issues are remediated.
- Utilize task tracking tools such as JIRA to keep stakeholders updated on progress
- Perform self-management tasks such as monitoring progress, providing summaries of progress, assisting in risk identification, and monitoring mitigation responses
- Collaborate among diverse teams to implement data protection controls appropriate to the business processes.
- Design and prepare reports and presentations explaining data protection and privacy in a high quality, informative, engaging, and easily understood manner.
- Participate in developing and delivering training programs on data protection and privacy.
- Perform assigned duties to assist the Office of the Chief Data Officer or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. May be required to work during hours not regularly scheduled for work, as directed by the supervisor.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience required as a data analyst with experience collecting, organizing, and managing data using tools such as Purview or Azure Information Protection.
- Minimum of 5 years of required security-related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of required experience with SQL and an understanding of data and systems' infrastructures.
- Minimum of 5 years of required familiarity with regulations such as HIPAA and CJIS.
- Minimum of 5 years of required familiarity with Data Protection capabilities such as data discovery, data labeling, data inventory, CASB, Microsoft Purview, and information rights management.
