DescriptionAmazon Web Services is looking for world class scientists to join the Security Innovation team in AWS Global Services Security (GSS). GSS is responsible for delivering product-led, people-powered services that help our customers operate their business securely on AWS, and we are accelerating our adoption of AI/ML.This is an exciting opportunity to contribute at the intersection of AI/ML, cloud, and cybersecurity. Your primary responsibility will be to envision, experiment, prototype, and mature to scale AI/ML solutions in our products to meet the needs of our customers. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple lines of business and learn from (and contribute to) a variety of security use cases. This is a hands-on role where success is measured by producing solutions that have measurable impact. Listen to security and business teams to identify viable ML opportunities and help develop plans from experiments to proof-of-concept to software product

Eagerly explore data - looking for impactful combinations of data transformations and analysis approaches. Validate our security and business teams’ hypotheses and identify new data analytics opportunities

Rapidly design, prototype, and test many possible hypotheses in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of both quantitative and business judgment. Report results in a scientifically-oriented way

Seek partnerships with AI/ML scientists and architects to identify and pursue new data science approaches to address real-world challenges.

Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate successful experiments into large-scale, highly complex production services

Contribute to best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and presentations adapted different stakeholders. Team with our business partners to help facilitate adoption of these recommendations

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or Master's degree and 2 years of experience

3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience

Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing, neural deep learning methods and/or machine learning

3+ years experience in using Python and hands-on experience building models for business applications with deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, MXNet

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with deep learning (e.g., CNN, RNN, LSTM, Transformer). Prior experience training and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs).

Hands-on experience with a broad set of ML approaches and techniques - possibly including traditional classification and clustering, time series analysis, anomaly detection, and Bayesian non-parametric methods.

6+ years of relevant experience in industry

1+ years of experience with information security, threat detection or related domain

Experience in production level software development

The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market.
