JOB DESCRIPTION: The Database Administrator will manage the production, non-production Mainframe DB2, Microsoft SQL databases, and technical environments, including the installation, support, and maintenance of the databases and servers. RESPONSIBILITIES:- Resolve complex database performance issues, database capacity issues, SQL-related issues and other distributed data issues.
- Ability to analyze DB2 statistics (system, database, buffer pool, thread, utility.)
- Confer with and advise Development groups on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods.
- Consult with application development teams and advise them of the correct usage of appropriate data manipulation techniques.
- Responsible for Storage management, backup and recovery, monitoring and maintaining the ongoing performance of databases to develop updates or modifications according to business needs. Monitor and review and collaborate with other database administrators to ensure correct practices and procedures.
- Assist IT, team members, with issues needing technical expertise or complex systems and/or database knowledge.
- Mentor team members to improve their understanding and skill and ensure they are familiar with resource materials including manuals and systems.
- Design technical solutions and prepare implementation methods to be performed by other DBA team members.
- Support our Disaster Recovery program
- Platinum products, including Detector, SA analyzer, Log analyzer, etc.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
- Help with the Mainframe migration project
- The individual will need to participate in 7 by 24 on-call responsibilities
