The Deputy Program Manager - Engineering (DPME) is the engineering lead on the Tactical Control System (TCS) program, responsible for overall technical execution, including cost and schedule management of the 100+ technical team members.

As a DPME within the Engineering team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day direction and leadership for the technical team and the lower-tier technical leads in setting the technical baseline and approach on your program. The DPME is responsible for managing cost, schedule, and performance of projects based on state-of-the-art technologies, methodologies, and development environments providing solutions in the defense and intelligence domain.

Duties and Responsibilities== Lead the Engineering team during the Agile Program Increment (PI) planning cycles that occurs every 3 months as well as during the execution of each PI== Partner with the Program Management team and Senior Engineering Manager (SEM) to ensure staffing needs are met, budgets are on-target, and schedules are executed per-plan== Adhere to the Agile/SAFe development process that is viewed by GDMS and our customer as the premier Agile/SAFe success program across the entire company== Support regular customer engagements during contract negotiations, monthly reviews, project task order scope development and execution== Define, execute, and control the technical baseline to ensure the contractual goals are achieved (reviewing and approving recommended changes to requirements and design configuration)== Ensuring the Engineering teams overall cost, schedule, and performance meets both internal and external customer expectations== Reporting on a regular basis the project metrics, schedule and budget performance, including execution risks and opportunities== Manage Program staffing, resources, organizational interfaces, and program task scope== Representing your program on the Line of Business Corrective Action Board Engineering approval/closure of Failure Review Board items== Develop and conduct monthly engineering status reviews with engineering leadership== The position involves providing leadership to a large size engineering team (100+) that includes efforts in Fair Lakes, Pittsfield, customer sites and other remote locations== Effectively choose the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products== Leads medium to large proposals with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcoming== Cultivates trusted relationships with sector, division, program and business leaders across the organization== Facilitates roadmap development aligned with desired strategic outcomes== Oversees the implementation of the roadmap by identifying, coordinating, leading and mentoring talent necessary to execute to plan== Ensures that roadmap backlogs are developed and executed in a manner that leads to delivery of the highest value in the shortest sustainable time== Consistently demonstrates progress through metrics which measure progress towards desired strategic outcomes== Acts as a change ambassador by modeling agile behaviors and helping leaders and team members to cultivate a learning and innovative culture
