Apex is hiring a Director, Technical Assurance to own the company's renewable energy technical advisory function across financing, procurement, and quality governance. In this role, you will support technical advisory reviews throughout the asset lifecycle for our utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will be Apex's senior technical voice with lenders, tax-equity investors, buyers, OEMs, and third-party consultants.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe senior technical voice across financing, procurement, and construction workstreams within the Apex portfolio. This will also include support wherever Apex needs authoritative technical judgment with external counterparties.Technical Due Diligence & Financing Support (primary focus)Own the IE and technical due diligence program across debt and tax-equity financings and capital-recycling transactions, managing concurrent deals through financial close and COD.Serve as the senior Apex technical contact with lenders, tax-equity investors, buyers, and their third-party IEs, fielding inquiries directly during financing and due diligence processes.Review and validate IE reports, OEM specsReview and validate IE reports, OEM specs/test reports, and technical drawings against financing conditions and CPs.Broader Technical Advisory (beyond IE)Serve as a technical resource to Procurement on OEM equipment contracts, specifications, and vendor disputes touching financing, warranty, or performance risk.Support EC/DC qualification and PWA reporting reviews upstream in development.Act as a technical escalation point on other cross-functional issues (e.g., transmission, preconstruction).Program LeadershipLead and develop a team supporting technical assurance and broader procurement efforts — technical assurance staff and external consultants.Set diligence and advisory strategy and standards, and hold the team and consultants accountable to them.Direct technical data-room build and quality review.Escalate and resolve high-stakes technical issues, protecting valuations and schedule.Partner across engineering, development, transmission, finance, asset management, and legal.Build team capability and standardize repeatable processes.Work EnvironmentWorks primarily traditional office hours in an indoor office environment, with regular travel to construction sites, operating projects, factories, and counterparty offices. Site visits require adherence to applicable site safety requirements and use of personal protective equipment. Flexible work hours allowed when work duties and business operations permit.
