The Navy's Enterprise Authoritative Data Environment (eADE) system team is seeking a Data Modeler to join their team.This is a 100% remote position.The eADE program overall will maintain Navy O&M and Research/Development/Test and Evaluation (RDTE) for Navy Personnel and Pay systems. The eADE team will apply an authoritative data sharing framework that supports data analytics and business intelligence functions to the HR systems.The senior data modeler works with data analysts and developers to design databases and data extracts that meet organizational needs using conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Models are designed to improve efficiency and outputs, and may focus on issues such as reducing data redundancy or improving data movement across systems using Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that expose data and application functionality for use by developers and users. The senior data modeler will be involved with discovering, analyzing, and specifying changes to how software systems create and maintain information and data.You will employ tools and techniques used to understand and analyze how an organization should collect, update, store and exchange data and perform the following tasks:

Defining business users’ data requirements

Identify areas where data can be used to improve business activities

Develop data flows and propose/implement innovative data solutions

Work closely with the database engineers to create optimal physical data models of datasets

Create and maintain data maps and systems interrelationship diagrams for data domains and systems

Define and employ data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies

Set standards for document naming, security, lifecycle and retention architecture using the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) which is a common vocabulary that enables efficient information exchange

Make recommendations for standardization and proper data usage

Champion the usage of data in business and communicate the benefits and return on investment for application customers and system owners

You should possess the following core skills :

Analytical and creative thinking skills

Ability to evaluate problems and develop appropriate solutions

Ability to quickly understand and incorporate new technologies

Expertise in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical and physical data models

Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience

Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team

Knowledge of the mathematical foundations of statistical inference and forecasting such as time series analysis, multivariate analysis, cluster analysis, and optimization

Ability to quickly learn and adapt modeling methods from case studies or other proven approaches

Basic Qualifications:

BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

5+ years of experience with the following:

Data Warehousing and Dimensional Modeling (Kimball); Using business intelligence tools to represent insights; Dimensionally modeled data; Translating/mapping relational data models into Schema; ER/Studio Data Architecture and Database Design Software and Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler

Experience with Tableau, Python and DataBricks
