Job Summary A Project and Design Engineer I or II is needed to support the Digital Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) efforts at North Anna Power Station by working in cross-functional teams to manage the digital instrumentation and controls upgrades of the plant systems through engineering, procurement, contract management, planning, construction, and closeout. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. Responsibilities include: • Working individually and as a team supporting the development and review of Engineering Change products • Developing project scopes of work and providing technical oversight of design modifications for assigned projects. This includes interfacing with station stakeholders throughout project life cycles. • Developing and presenting project management plans and funding requests. • Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives. • Reviewing and providing project and technical input to engineering design changes, specifications, calculations, analysis, research, supplier documents, and contract documents. • Analyzing and developing strategies for mitigating project risk. • Performing and/or reviewing engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. • Providing cost analysis as needed and developing recommendations based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. • Under direction of the SLR Projects Supervisor, exercising independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well-defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. May be required to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on the SLR programs in varied areas and related fields.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of engineering experience. Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles. Engineer II: 3+ years engineering experience. Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles. Project and/or design engineering experience is preferred. • Strong technical skills with ability to pick up and learn new concepts quickly. Can both learn from others/be mentored and also to provide guidance to less experienced engineers serving as the mentor. • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing). T his includes the ability to communicate project details to individuals of varying technical backgrounds and to present and obtain approvals from station management, funding, and executive review committees. • Strong personal computer skills and ability to navigate company libraries, document systems, and databases. • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives. • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems. • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices. • Equally effective working independently or in team environment. • Proven decision-making skills. • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks. • Strong technical and organizational skills. REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technologyand a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description Depending on functional responsibilities and location of position must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate.
