Job Summary

This position will be filled as an Engineer II or III based on the successful candidate's qualifications. This position serves as an Engineer within the Power Generation Excellence Team (PGX), applying advanced and specialized expertise in development, integration and deployment experience of Aveva PI Systems including Asset Framework Modeling and PI Vision. Working closely with station personnel to configure PI AF event frames, notifications, counters per the plant hierarchy or other tasks inside of PI AF. Develops new PI Vision graphics, working with corporate customers on fleet wide display solutions or with station personnel on station specific displays. Works with station and corporate team members on I&C/ DCS Control Logic issues as needed. Helps develop work methods, or procedures, to troubleshoot, and solve complex problems for power generation assets and associated equipment. Takes a broad perspective to identify solutions and develop and provide recommendations for best practices, procedures, and standardization, in addition to providing direction and advice for the development of projects, programs, and processes. Provides technical guidance to power generating operational and/or maintenance management and staff to address and resolve operational and maintenance concerns. Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of the PI System; testing and deploying updates, patches and security enhancements as needed. Develops on demand reports, dashboards, integrated analytics, KPI reports in the PI System or on other data visualization software. Keeps abreast of changing technologies, updates, and recalls on parts, equipment, or operational changes. Works independently, applying extensive and diversified knowledge and experience to resolve complex issues or maximum efficiencies. May prepare technical, mechanical, or operational reports as needed to identify concerns, and/or propose improvements to processes and procedures. Leads or provides guidance to functional teams or projects as needed. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience • Engineer II: 3+ years of development, integration, and deployment experience for Aveva PI Systems including Asset Framework Modeling. • Engineer III: 5+ years of development, integration, and deployment experience for Aveva PI Systems including Asset Framework Modeling. • Demonstrates experience with PI Integrator for Business • Demonstrates experience with creating PI Vision Displays • Demonstrates considerable knowledge of design and operation of complex systems, equipment, and operations, which may be indicated by advanced certification of licenses, or training. • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of industry codes, government regulations, company policies and practices. • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters with In-depth knowledge of operational/mechanical and technical design applications. • Possesses considerable knowledge and understanding of Station Control Systems, Instrumentation, Data Historians (PI Asset Framework / PI Vision), and Wireless, Bluetooth or other SMART technologies. • Promote and educate data driven performance initiatives, processes, metrics and analytics to provide technical guidance and mentoring to stations regarding station health and performance. • Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills possesses a questioning attitude and is highly skilled in the identification and resolution of boiler-turbines issues, related operational or mechanical equipment failure, and the development of recommendations for repairs, maintenance or operational solutions to ensure smooth and continual operation of plant. • Strong organizational skills, skilled in maintaining and preparing documentation, records, schematics, policies/procedures, and identifying/monitoring reoccurring issues and trends to develop recommendations. • Possesses excellent communications skills, skilled in communicating recommendations and issues to a variety of audiences. • Strong presentation skills, skilled in preparing technical documentation and resources for maintenance/operational reference. • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports or operational procedures to document equipment modifications, procedures, or practices. • May be required to travel to plant sites on occasion, to evaluate or provide oversight.
  • Demonstrated advanced and specialized expertise typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable directly related work experience within the PI System.

Education Requirements

Required: A Degree in Engineering that meets the criteria below (Or have holdsor has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.)

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technologyanda post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description Depending on functional responsibilities and location of position must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate.
