Job Summary Dominion Energy, one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, is seeking a qualified, motivated, and skilled Renewable Operations Engineer (working title: Engineer III) with relevant work experience in operations, maintenance, construction or project development in renewables or the energy industry. The successful candidates will support either SCADA and Control Systems or Inverter and Solar design. As a Renewable Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring the performance of operating facilities, making recommendations to improve performance, assisting in root cause and cost benefit analyses, and developing and maintaining systems to assess and monitor performance. Duties will include, but are not limited to: create and maintain datasets in support of performance, regulatory, operational, financial, environmental, and safety obligations, derive actionable data-driven insights by creating recurring and ad-hoc analyses, work closely with stakeholders to develop tools and processes to analyze operational and financial performance, develop guidelines and procedures to enhance data governance, promote data analytics literacy and knowledge within the organization, developing models and best practices for performance monitoring and evaluation using industry standard tools such as PVsyst and SolarAnywhere, assisting root cause analysis efforts, develop performance reports to assist in the management of the business, make recommendations to improve facility performance and applies knowledgebase of utility scale solar PV systems to devise new approaches to problems encountered. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience plus ABET accredited Engineering Degree Engineer III: 5-6+ years of relevant engineering experience plus ABET accredited Engineering Degree Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience plus non-engineering technical degree and/or equivalent applicable experience Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5-6+ years of relevant engineering experience plus non-engineering technical degree and/or equivalent applicable experience- Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles;
- Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines;
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead;
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
- Strong personal computer skills;
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
- In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);
- Equally effective working independently or in team environment;
- Proven decision making skills;
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks;
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET
