Job Summary A successful candidate will be joining the Electric Distribution Grid Planning team. This role will be selected as Engineer I, II or III in the Engineer series based on years of directly related experience and other qualifications. Successful incumbent will be able to perform difficult, complex, and time sensitive electric distribution planning tasks and analysis utilizing modeling software Synergi in a fast-paced environment requiring sense of urgency, innovative thinking, ability to prioritize work, complete multiple engineering requests simultaneously, and knowledge of electric distribution Design, Planning, Reliability, Standards, Operations, Substation and/or Transmission engineering. This role will also communicate directly with multiple data center customers on a regular basis to discuss ongoing data center projects. Successful candidate will coordinate engineering, contractual and financial segments of complex data center connect projects to prepare various project scoping documents to meet customer timelines and engineering objectives. He or She will also devise new and innovative approaches to problems encountered and develop engineering principles ensuring compliance with electric distribution and substation design criteria and industry/company standards. At Engineer III level of proficiency within this classification, incumbents are expected to provide technical expertise, team leadership, guidance to less experienced engineers, intensive and diversified knowledge of electric T&D engineering principles and practices to all projects. May serve as a technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities. Performs other related duties and storm related roles as assigned. This position is located in Richmond, VA with a hybrid schedule as an option subject to business needs. Relocation assistance may be offered to the successful candidate. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience Engineer I: 0-3 years of directly related engineering experience Engineer II: 3-5 years of directly related engineering experience Engineer III: 5+ years of directly related engineering experience- Full knowledge of electric T&D engineering theories, standards and principles with focus on electric distribution and substation
- Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
- Strong personal computer skills
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
- In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs such as Synergy, DMI, ArcFM, Microsoft Office, Work Manager, and various substation engineering portals and programs
