We are seeking talented and motivated Engineers to join our team!HII's Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assist Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Leadership providing analysis and recommendations for Missile Defense System (MDS) Acquisition, Programmatic, and Strategic Planning to support the Missile Defense Agency mission at Ft Belvoir, VA. This role is Part Time 25%. What you will doYou will be providing SME support in the following areas:

Recommend topics requiring independent assessments to Agency Executives and Program Managers

Advise on MDS policy development, program concept development, strategic planning, issue resolution, and decision-making processes including best practices, process improvements, and streamlining initiatives for programmatic and/or acquisition issues.

Advise and engage in executive-level meetings and reviews; conduct independent reviews and assessments; and routinely provide recommendations, analyses, and/or reports in the Agency prescribed format to support the Senior Leadership decision processes.

Assess MDA technical organizations and provide recommendations for improved efficiencies and effectiveness regarding structure, roles, responsibilities, management processes, product and program integration, functional support services, and provisions for adjustments throughout the life cycle.

Identify shortcomings in program execution of goals, address challenges, and provide recommendations to optimize program efforts.

Assess specific issues for impacts to performance, cost, schedule and risk.

What we are looking for

15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.

Recognized industry expert with significant depth and breadth of knowledge providing advisor and consultant services based on unique experience that has a significant level of technical value and return on investment.

Capable of supporting teams and/or working independently regarding very complex programmatic issues related to complex weapons systems:

Preferred Requirements

Minimum of 20 years’ directly related experience required.

Greater than 25 years’ directly related experience desired.

Education: Doctorate or MA/MS in a relevant engineering field.

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
