Primarily responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing processes for manufacturing of night vision systems and/or components.   This includes interacting daily with bargaining unit employees in order to assign work that achieves required delivery and inventory objectives. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:  Setting performance objectives for hourly employees based on company best practicesTraining production employeesEntering and maintaining attendance data.Ensuring that all personnel comply with safety and security regulations as set forth by company policies.Working with area engineers, manager and production employees to optimize yields and throughputReviewing/dispositioning night vision systems and/ or componentsLeading or participating in projects to: increase yield, increase productivity, reduce waste, or improve work processes, and improve product performance quality.Participating in and promoting Lean Six Sigma methodologies.Other duties as specified by authorized company representatives.Role is in a unionized shop.A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipment.  They also have an understanding of, and skills in, effectively applying Six-Sigma tools to benefit the organization and customers.  Additionally, the candidate will be versed in Lean tools and their application to reduce waste.  This is a hands-on engineering technician position, that will also have responsibilities leading bargaining unit employees through the work flow of the department/area. The individual should expect to spend >75% of their time engaging directly with the factory teams on the shop floor.
