PURPOSE:

Leads the organization in the planning, development, and application of enterprise architecture to achieve business strategies and transformations. Possesses a broad understanding of the enterprise, the business, current capabilities and future needs, business initiatives and healthcare/technology industry trends. Supports business strategy and enterprise architecture development, by providing counsel, monitoring industry trends to and ensure business objectives are met. Provides leadership, mentoring and counsel to senior leadership and teams.

Leads planning and delivery of EA services and support across multiple business areas and/or enterprise architecture functions.

Leads development and continuous improvement of the enterprise architecture practice, including the definition and application of frameworks, methods, processes, and tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the Enterprise Architecture Director or Enterprise Architecture Manager, the incumbent’s essential functions are, but not limited to, the following:
  • Strategy Development Provide thought leadership in the development and execution of enterprise and domain-specific IT strategies, standards, and guidelines. Engage in business strategy development to identify new business capability and technology-driven opportunities and ensure alignment and prioritization of IT strategy. Define business and operating models to exploit new opportunities and realize strategic goals and objectives. Support due diligence on merger, acquisition, strategic partnership, and investment activities of the enterprise.
  • Architecture Alignment: Provides architectural vision to appropriately align IT to strategic business needs. Maintains an ongoing partnership with the business to apply in-depth knowledge of the business operations, strategies, priorities and information requirements to establish the technical direction and an enterprise view.
  • Architecture Practice Development: Lead the development, tailoring, and enhancement of enterprise architecture frameworks, methods, and tools. Ensure the alignment and integration of enterprise architecture processes and deliverables with those of other architecture and SDLC disciplines. Lead the development of enterprise architecture communications and education materiel for use with business and technical stakeholders or partners. Prepares and publishes formal architecture documents, produces architecture development plans and reports, and presents staff actions to customers (e.g., white papers, briefings).
  • Architecture Development: Provide oversight for development, review, approve, and maintain enterprise architecture blueprints and roadmaps. Analyze pain points and opportunities that transcend business areas and propose enterprise strategies or solutions. Provide oversight and ensure the quality of reusable architecture patterns and reference models. Ensure alignment across architecture and business domains and traceability to business and IT strategy.
  • Architecture Standards and Research: Ensures appropriate technical standards and procedures are defined. Manages the development of centers of excellence around key technologies. Establishes programs to focus technology research within the division into a cohesive research plan. Ensures best practices are adhered to in the adoption of new technologies. Researches, evaluates and selects from existing and emerging technologies the options best fitting business and IT strategic needs. Leads efforts to catalog and share research results related to current vs. future architecture states.
  • Architecture Management: Proactively recommend courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness. Establish technical rationale and business case for infrastructure changes. Determines whether a solution architecture variance from standards should be approved, recommended for approval, or rejected. Enforces and reports all variances to technology directions and standards as needed.
  • Architecture Governance: Represent Enterprise Architecture and provide thought leadership in solution architecture peer reviews and architecture governance forums. Ensure that IT portfolio decisions provide business value and optimize business value and total cost of ownership.
  • Architecture Consulting: Provide guidance to enterprise, domain and solution architects to ensure that solution architectures align with IT strategies and enterprise blueprints, standards, and guidelines. Researches, develops, documents, and analyzes enterprise architectures (including business, enterprise information environment, intelligence processes, and IT) to identify mission capability gaps, overlaps, and shortfalls.
  • Solution Assessment: Represent Enterprise Architecture in the identification and evaluation of solution alternatives, including the drafting and/or review of strategic RFIs/RFPs and the evaluation of vendor proposals.
  • Enterprise Planning: Assess projects for architecture impacts in support of annual planning, resource estimation, and alignment with IT strategy and enterprise architecture. Provide regular reporting on progress, issues, and opportunities related to enterprise architecture.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education Details: Bachelor's Degee inComputer Science, Information Technology or related field

    OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

    Experience:
    • 14 years progressive engineering experience leading multiple business facing enterprise level cross domain engineering initiatives OR
    • 12 years progressive experience in multiple Domain Architecture or Solutions Architecture leading multiple business facing enterprise level architecture OR
    • 10 years experience in Enterprise Architecture leading multiple business facing enterprise architecture initiatives

    Preferred Qualifications: Masters in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration.

Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
