Job Summary: As an Entry-Level Cable Technician, your work involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cable systems. You’ll handle various cable types, including Ethernet (Cat5, Cat6), coaxial, and fiber optic cables. This includes routing cables through walls, ceilings, and floors to connect devices seamlessly. Additionally, you’ll terminate cables by connecting them to jacks, outlets, and patch panels, while ensuring proper connectivity through cable testing. Setting up work area outlets (data ports, phone jacks) for end-users and adhering to safety protocols are essential aspects of your role. Remember, this position provides a foundation for learning and growth within the field of cable technology.Qualifications: This candidate needs to have a strong work ethic Reliable transportation Must be a willing team player who can do the tough work MUST be eager/interested to learn the trade Candidates must own or be willing to get steel-toe boots for this role This is a fast-paced, physical position that requires lifting up to 25 pounds (You will occasionally work on ladders or scissor lifts) Responsibilities: Installing cabinets, cable trays, ladder racks, fiber runners, containment, and trunks Installation/decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement Provide structured feedback on project progress to Stakeholders and Project Managers when needed Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices Collaborate with various Stakeholders to remove project obstacles Reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation/redline work Broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies Benefits: This is an opportunity to learn the trade of Data Centers On-the-job training will be provided for all tasks in low-voltage cabling / Networking Longterm security of dependable hours and work Healthcare, Medical, Vision, and Dental plans 401k Matching Overtime paid at 1.5x rate A great opportunity for advancement and to convert to a full-time employee PTO is not offered until you graduate from the probationary period About TEKsystems: We're partners in transformation.
