CEI's Client is looking for an
outside plant fiber specialist in Virginia. This position is responsible for supporting their Energy owned and contract-maintained fiber cable along the company’s various Distribution rights of way supporting Grid Transformation and Rural BroadbandPrimary job duties include, but are not limited to:- Design fiber cable routes along Distribution ROWs
- Work in and around substations, district offices and Distribution rights of way
- Produce detailed cost estimates for new fiber routes and relocation projects
- Select contractors, oversee construction and splicing
- Field verify as-built cable routes and update Circuit Vision as needed
- Enter as-built cable routes into Circuit Vision
- Respond to and coordinate restoration of cable cuts
- Review cable routes for low spare availability and propose solutions
- Participate in cable maintenance window cutovers
- Support storm recovery duties during and after natural disasters
- Experience with OPGW and/or Transmission engineering/design a plus
- 4 years of outside plant engineering and/or splicing experience
- Knowledge of installation and maintenance practices for ADSS cable and hardware
- Knowledge of ROW and permitting processes
- Strong safety awareness
- Well organized and high level of attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing
- Strong problem solving/troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to process information quickly and function in a high-stress environment
- Strong project management skills
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment
- Ability to develop rapport with Dominion Energy employees, external customers and contractors
- Experienced using MS Office, Circuit Vision and GIS interfaces
- Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, and NESC Standards
- Valid driver’s license
- OPGW route design and operational experience is a plus
- Autocad LT experience is a plus
