Basic Purpose DPSS provides infrastructure design, implementation and management for block, object, and file storage systems throughout the NFCU enterprise. DPSS also provides design, implementation, and management of data protection services in the form of backup systems, data copy management, and resilient storage.

The successful engineer will have broad knowledge of storage and data protection technologies, ability to work both independently and as a contributor in a team environment and will possess at least five years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor's degree OR ten years of direct relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

• Engineer will ensure proper working order and currency of open systems/distributed block storage, file storage, and object storage platforms throughout the Navy Federal enterprise. This includes installation of new platforms, decommissioning of retiring platforms, application of regular software and firmware updates, and coordination of hardware-level repairs with vendor engineers and support.• Engineer will provide event and incident analysis, to include root-cause to team members and leadership. Analysis will include recommended changes to configurations and general architecture.• Engineer will ensure proper working order and currency of all open systems/distributed data protection systems, enterprise wide. This includes installation of new platforms, decommissioning of retiring platforms, application of regular software and firmware updates, and coordination of hardware-level and software-level repairs with vendor engineers and support.• Engineer will use myriad tools to ensure performance of the storage environment is maintained to the level required to support Navy Federal internal and customer-facing services. These tools may include vendor-supplied and third-party tools, of both a software-based, and hardware-based variety.• Engineer will contribute to periodic exploration, discovery, and recommendation of new and emerging technologies suitable for enhancement and growth of the DPSS service portfolio.• Engineer will create documentation that accurately reflects architecture, configuration, and operation of all block storage, file storage, and object storage platforms, and will be charged with maintaining the currency thereof.• Engineer will contribute to standardization of all activities and will support integration with ticketing systems, and enterprise automation tools.• Engineer will be responsible for creation of service delivery enhancements, such as administrative scripting, automation, and process review and evolution.• Engineer will be responsible for responding to security posture changes, such as emergent vulnerabilities and changing hardening requirements in all block storage, file storage, and object storage platforms, as well as all data protection systems. This may include configuration changes, architectural changes, and software updates, as needed.• Engineer will participate in a periodic on-call rotation, which will require 24-hour availability during on-call periods to support emergent issues and off-hour changes.• Engineer will fulfill customer requests for storage provisioning, data protection coverage, and assistance with all areas of the service portfolio, on a catalog-driven basis.• Engineer will participate in the maintenance of capacity reporting and capacity forecasting to ensure that service capability is appropriate for current and future needs.• Engineer will adhere to all Navy Federal instructions and accepted practices, including adherence to strict change control, compliance with regulatory directives, and support of strong security methodologies.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong experience with enterprise block storage• Experience with SAN management (Zoning, VSANs, etc.)• Strong experience with file service platforms (e.g. NetApp, Panzura)• Strong experience with enterprise backup and recovery systems (e.g. Tivoli Storage Manager, Rubrik)• Experience with object storage• Strong scripting skills including at least one of the following: Python, ksh, bash, PowerShell • Experience with Event/Log Management• Experience supporting services via monitoring: availability, system health, and incident response • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and collaboration skills• Excellent communication and documentation skills (participating in meetings, giving presentations, creating diagrams)• Strong organization skills with emphasis on detail and follow-up • Ability and willingness to work after hours on occasion (on-call rotation)• BS degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with administration of OneDrive for Business in the M365 cloud suite• Ability to lead and work in projects autonomously• Experience with Compliance Auditing• Experience with Agile project management• Experience developing automations via tools such as Ansible• Familiarity with at least one of the following: AIX, Redhat, and/or Windows• Experience with Public/Private Cloud preferably Azure• Good understanding of modern security threats, including ransomware attacks, and creating solutions to protect data against them.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM;

Standard- with some nights/weekends to support change requests. On-call rotation

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.

Salary Range: $85,500 -$146,300 annually
