Incumbents of this position must be U.S. Citizens. Job Summary: Supervises Headquarters Data Center. Responsible for day to day operation, maintains proper environmental conditions, ensures reliable scheduling, execution of computer application programs, and printing of enterprise reports. Duties and Responsibilities: - Ensures proper operation of computers and associated equipment internal to the data center including management of maintenance contracts with equipment vendors. Provides direction and guidance to computer operations staff through the preparation of written and oral operating procedures, run instructions and supervisory oversight. - Monitors computer room environment including temperature and humidity levels and proactively makes adjustments to conform to required levels. - Develops and publishes the personnel schedule for rotating shift Lead Computer Operators and Computer Operators. Ensures adequate staffing in the event of absence of personnel. - Ensures the run schedules for all computer application programs, systems and job streams are completed in a timely manner. Supervises and reviews the accurate reporting of all errors, delays, and other issues that arise during each shift. - Publishes documentation for the execution of all computer application programs, systems and job streams. Ensures systems error recovery and restart procedures are documented. - Ensures Computer Operations staff are adequately trained for their job responsibilities. Conducts training sessions and prepares training documentation. - Ensures equipment in computer facility is operating and operated properly in accordance with OSHA standards. Manages vendor service contracts and directs the execution of preventative maintenance procedures by internal staff. - Assists in the installation of equipment in the data center area, which includes the electrical, cooling, and physical footprint location. - Assists in the preparation of annual support budget and associated schedules. - Establishes and publishes emergency procedures for employee safety and asset preservation. Prepares both emergency shutdown and evacuation plans for use in the event of fire, power failure, air conditioner failure, or other unanticipated events. - Manages the off-site media storage program, and assures proper archival of data on established schedule. - Places delivery orders or requests (as appropriate) for consumable supplies for the headquarters Data Center. - Meets with application development staff and management to determine optimum operating schedules and processes and implements same. - Prepares operating reports and performs as production coordinator with users and other Code I operating units. - Supervises assigned staff. Directs assignments, answers questions, completes work performance reviews, approves leave and determines training requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned. The incumbent of this position must file a Financial Disclosure Report (OGE) Form 450, as required. IAM1 jobs: This position is designated IT-1 (Critical - Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M-5510.30 and will require a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). Candidates must be eligible for and obtain a Secret Clearance, within 6 months of appointment. Failure to obtain will result in termination. Department of the Navy (DON) Cyber Information Technology / Cybersecurity Workforce positions (Cyber IT/CSWF) This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area 45 and as a condition of employment incumbents of this position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include: 1. Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and; 2. Per SECNAVINST 1543.2, Cyber IT/CSWF individuals shall participate annually in 40 hours of continuous learning (CL) activities to be documented in a current individual development plan (IDP) signed by both the employee and supervisor. 3. Required Minimum Cybersecurity Credentials, in order of precedence, to qualify for the position are: a. Education (at least one of the following): i. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in administrative, technical, or investigative work which demonstrated the ability and aptitudes required to perform technical and analytical work involving enterprise data center operations. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One year related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree in business/information systems or computer science discipline. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of progressive experience in work which demonstrated the ability to supervise a 24 x 7 x 365 Enterprise class data center. Such experience should include a majority of the following: > Leadership and/or supervisory experience in a large scale data center with duties that included planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all data center activities > Experience in scheduling staff to cover three shifts daily, providing tasking, guidance, training and mentoring > Experience maintaining and monitoring data center equipment and environmental conditions including power distribution, generator, fire suppression and HVAC systems > Experience developing and maintaining emergency response and recovery procedures to ensure employee safety and asset preservations Information Assurance Workforce Certifications (IAM1 jobs): SECNAV M-5239.2, DoN, Information Assurance (IA) Workforce Manual requires incumbents of this position to possess, and maintain current, one of the following Certifications: GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF), GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC), Security , or one of the following higher level certifications: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) NEXCOM preferred certification is Security Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain this requirement will result in termination of employment.
