IT Infrastructure

Project Manager for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients located in

Richmond, VA. The selected candidate will need to be onsite 2-3 days/week.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and deliver a complex IT project(s) with multiple teams and work streams coordinated to an aggressive delivery schedule.
  • Under the program manager, the project manager is responsible for the outcome of the assigned projects.
  • Leads the team through the Commonwealth Standard for Project Management for successful completion of the project phases: PreSelect, Initiation, Planning, Execution and Control and Closeout.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical project manager with development staff and business groups.
  • Coordinate and communicate with ITD management and staff to coordinate work tasks and resourcing.
  • Communicate timelines and expectations to technical and business staff.
  • Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and contractors in the execution of projects including contract management and working with the procurement office(s).
  • Adhere to project management practices and governance requirements; coordinate with Project Management Offices.
  • Maintain project budget, plans, tasks, schedules, risks, and status and disseminates information to team members and customers as defined in the communications plan.
  • Ensure documentation of requirements and uses cases, facilitate design workshops for assigned project.
  • Ensure definition of test objectives, designed test plans and test cases for assigned project.
  • Provide the management of project milestones and deliverables for on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Define, measure, and clearly communicate progress with metrics.
  • Support system and application training efforts.
  • Work with the cross-functional IT teams to identify/extend, enable and deliver a scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solution that can be managed and delivered
  • Responsibility for integrating technical knowledge and business knowledge to develop innovative solutions to automate projects activities
  • Manage projects consisting of network switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, fiber optics and internet services.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • A minimum of 5 years of project experience in IT infrastructure delivery, Network infrastructure, Network architecture, wireless technologies, Cloud implementation, vendor management.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications, network technologies, network standards and practices.
  • Experience in the modern fabric-based networks - Network Fabric, underlay, overlay and SD WAN, Experience with VoIP infrastructure a plus.
  • Experience managing large, multi-stream projects.
  • Experience in reviewing carrier bid feedback and present carrier/circuit recommendations to the Management Committee for approval
  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project management
  • Agile Scrum Master certification (preferred)

Required Skills:
  • 10 Years - Current Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • 15 Years - Candidate must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience managing large projects
  • 5 Years - Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall project management principles.
  • 5 Years - Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server)
  • Bachelor Degree

Desired Skills:
  • 3 Years - Balance business/technical background with sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to technology teams.
