A manufacturing company in Virginia is looking to add a new Java Developer for a great Remote opportunity with their growing Applications Development team. In this role, the Java Developer (Remote) will be responsible for developing and maintaining applications to support the business functions of the organization.

Responsibilities: The Java Developer (Remote) will:
  • Provide technical and development expertise for ongoing enterprise Java application development projects
  • Support strategic business development efforts to maintain legacy code while delivering innovative solutions that address the client's most challenging business, technology, and system integration needs
  • Perform evaluations of tools and solutions, make rational design decisions from business and technical perspectives, and communicate recommendations to clients
  • Participate in internal, cross-team, and client engagements in the strategic analysis, planning, and execution of IT-enabled business solutions
  • Coordinate with Application Developers, Managers, and Customer Application Experts to ensure that required features and modifications are included in the appropriate releases to support cross-product features and to communicate architectural designs and standards
  • Develop and design complex multi-tier web applications; determines project requirements and functional specifications to ensure that client specifications are met
  • Design application modules that work together to produce desired products
  • Provide analysis and designs to other members in the team to avoid duplication of efforts in solving the same application problem with different products
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:
  • 7 years of experience with Java Development, including JEE/J2EE technologies, such as Spring, Struts and Hibernate
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with application, database, and Web Server technologies, including WebSphere Application Server, MQ's, and Oracle SQL
  • Knowledge of SOA and distributed computing standards and technologies
  • Familiarity with Unix, including the ability to navigate around and review scripts and logs
  • Experience with secure programming practices, including handling issues found by automated tools such Sonar, AppScan, and others
  • Experience with multiple SDLC methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, and DevOps (Scrum, KanBan, etc.)
  • Experience using GIT, VersionOne, and HP ALM or comparable development support tools
  • Solid problem solving and time management skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized

Desired Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or a related field
  • Experience with developing collaborative technologies
  • A thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Knowledge of US Postal Service systems
