Join us and we can make a difference together.About this roleThis position is for a Lead Field Controls Engineer in Aftermarket and Service who is under minimal supervision. Installs, tests, services and repairs complex equipment to conform to company operating specifications and customer requirements. Leads lower-level staff to maintain and analyze equipment logs to identify equipment repair needs and required repair methods. Relies on moderate to extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks.Key Responsibilities

Design of complete building automation systems including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.

Creation, where necessary, of sequences of operation for the control of all building systems. Documentation of the BAS design (i.e. submittals) and revision control of the resultant documents.

Site-specific configuration of the I-VUCCN system (Preferred).

Programming of control algorithms including those that include third-party integration.

Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.

Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.

Functional testing (commissioning) of complex building systems such as chiller plants and large integrations.

Setup and execution of factory witness tests for projects which require them.

Final documentation of the building automation system that incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal.

Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.

Technical support during the selling process to ensure that sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose the best possible solutions.

Mentorship and development of other Application Engineers.

Identification and communication of project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.

Timely creation of requests for information that are clear, concise, and well written.

Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and project stakeholders.

Maintenance and advisement of customer and company design and programming standards including parts and practices.

Adherence to safety standards. High degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Must be willing to join the union or be part of the Union

Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier

5+ years of Commercial HVAC experience

3+ years of experience in the HVAC controls industry and Electrical and Mechanical Building systems with experience in BAS software and associated engineering tools (I-VU CCN preferred)

3+ years’ interpreting and writing plans (including architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints), specifications, and contract documents to deliver compliant but optimized designs, and translating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree or Technical School certification in the HVAC industry

Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.

Field experience and a complete understanding of the installation and operation of I-VU CCN Controls and knowledge and understanding of third-party control systems and integrations.

Well-organized and able to balance multiple concurrent priorities by communicating and negotiating due dates and deliverables.

Knowledge of third-party communication protocols used in building automation and IP networks (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, LON, N2, etc.). Able to design and troubleshoot integrations with the same.

Excellent time management skills, including the ability to accurately estimate the time required to complete tasks and deliver on the committed timeline.

Team player with a positive attitude.
