Job Title: Jr. .Net DeveloperWork Location: Remote - w/25% travel to client sites (Pascagoula, MS primarily although other locations may be required)Clearance Required: US Citizen, Public Trust Position Description/Scope of Work:We are seeking a Windows .NET Programmer Analyst to join our team. The selected candidate will support shipboard scientists and researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS) for our NOAA Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC). The SEFSC conducts multidisciplinary research to inform natural resource management in the Southeast United States, including the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and South Atlantic. Our science is used by NOAA, Regional Fishery Management Councils, Interstate and International Fishery Commissions, and other Federal, state and local agencies to make informed management decisions to protect and conserve the living marine resources in the Southeastern U.S. and Atlantic high seas.Responsibilities:Candidate is expected to work in close coordination with the SEFSC Application Development Supervisor to provide the following support:- Design, analyze, evaluate, code, test, debug, and implement software applications in C# and Visual Basic.NET
- Support custom scientific shipboard applications that collect data from instruments and sensors, and read/write data from flat files and MS Access databases.
- Support and troubleshoot all OSI layers of shipboard scientific data collection systems, from physical to application.
- Provide remote support to shipboard scientists to troubleshoot and repair issues from shore
- Develop documentation
- Train end users
Required Skills:- 3-5 years of experience
- Windows .NET Developer in C# and VB
- File I/O experience, reading in various file formats for manipulation
- Database manipulation, including MS Access
- Serial I/O experience, configuring baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, handshaking. Testing and troubleshooting using terminal applications.
- Ethernet and TCP/IP knowledge, establishing addresses and netmasks, troubleshooting using ping and traceroute, confinguring nodes for static or DHCP addressing,
- Writing and updating documentation for new and existing applications
- Training end users
