Description:Our client is an Engineering, Planning, surveying and construction services firm serving public and private clients in the Washington Metropolitan area. HQ is located in Woodbridge, VA and they have additional offices in Leesburg, VA and Fredericksburg, VA. They are urgently hiring for a Civil Project Engineer focused in Land Development and Site Design. The Project Engineer will be responsible for all design phases related to projects for the land development industry, using advanced techniques, theory and practices in the civil engineering field and related sciences and disciplines. To be successful in this position, the Engineer must apply inductive reasoning, visualization, and problem solving to daily responsibilities. He/she must communicate in a clear, timely and professional manner with his/her supervisor, team members, clients and others. The Engineer must also use time management, organization, and initiative to complete multiple projects with keen attention to detail. He/she must continuously seek and gain knowledge related to the civil engineering profession and the specifics of the Engineer position. He/she must be a team player and always work towards the goals of the department and company.Responsibilities:− Perform various non-routine and complex assignments with minimum supervision and assistance (i.e., design calculations, provide sketches, notes for drafting, base sheets)− Transform initial rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design programs (AutoCAD)− Advanced knowledge of construction plans− Demonstrated experience with industry related computer applications and design software such as AutoCAD / Carlson Civil, and Microsoft Office− Ensure project designs adhere to established specifications and standards of the company− Identify and resolve incomplete or conflicting design inputs, resolve problems encountered by seeking interpretation from various engineering staff and/or resources− Is able to coordinate the design work for a project− Assist with the development of plans, specifications, and reports as needed− Provide assistance to designers and/or Engineering Technicians− May act in a lead role over Engineering Technicians− Create and document concepts, sketches, models, layouts, submittals, instructions, and complete production packages− Follows company standards and procedures− Completes assignments accurately and on schedule− Possesses and applies industry knowledge to job requirements− Attempts to learn new skills− Anticipates and prevents problems when possible− Accepts constructive criticism and feedback and responds with positive actions− Shows initiative, self-starting− Orally communicates thoughts in a clear, concise and constructive manner− Maintain awareness of safety procedures and work safety and promote a safe work environment− Produces readable, concise and accurate written documentation and correspondence− Assists others when needed and without being asked− Is respectful of supervisor and fellow workers− Reliable and arrive to work on timeAdditional Skills & Qualifications:Degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldEngineer in Training (EIT) is preferred but not requiredExperience in Land Development, preferably in VirginiaAbility to create site grading designs, roadway design, floodplain studies, stormwater management and BMP, waterline analysis, feasibility studies, storm/sanitary profiles, and/or house grading designsExperience comprehending construction plans, residential and commercial practices andregulations.Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and/or related software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, Microstation)Employee Value Proposition (EVP)Company has been in business for over 32 years. The candidate will be placed at one of the 3 office locations that is based on where they live.
