About the Opportunity

The Supervision, Regulation, and Credit (SRC) Department, Large Financial Institutions Supervision (LFIS) unit has an immediate opening for an experienced individual in its Large Bank and Specialized Supervision (LBSS) group with a specialty in the areas of Information Technology. The role supports the Central Bank's supervision of global systemically important financial institutions and evaluates the risk management practices for the largest financial institutions in the country. The individual will collaborate with highly skilled and talented people across the Federal Reserve System and will contribute to the Large Institution Supervision Coordination Committee (LISCC) Governance and Controls Program.

What You Will Do

  • Lead or participate on examinations and conduct ongoing monitoring to determine the effectiveness of a firm's IT risk management program, gain firm peer perspective, and assess emerging IT-related risks. Support conclusions and communicate results with stakeholders through supervisory products and key meetings.
  • Monitor and document remediation of supervisory issues and elevate issues as appropriate.
  • Contribute to preparation of supervisory plans for relevant and effective risk-based supervision factoring in size and complexity of the firm.
  • Proactively coordinate and collaborate with colleagues across the LISCC program to incorporate their views into supervisory results and products, including peer perspective. Build relationships with key stakeholders including the Board of Governors staff and regulatory counterparts.
  • Communicate regularly with supervised large financial institutions and regulatory agencies, as well as brief Federal Reserve executive management on appropriate issues.
  • Contribute to System efforts to develop effective IT supervisory policy and guidance, supervisory activities, and IT analysis.
  • Contribute to and periodically lead Federal Reserve System and Department workgroups, proactively initiate change by seeking opportunities to participate in priority projects.
  • Support Fifth District supervision of non-LISCC large financial institutions periodically if schedule permits.
  • Extended work hours may be required at times.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience and advanced knowledge in areas such as IT, risk management, information security business resiliency, network management/architecture, vendor risk management, vulnerability management, patch management systems, and data center operations and management. Advanced knowledge of common frameworks such as FFIEC, NIST, and ISO.
  • Ability to evaluate an institution's cyber/information security program and provide an assessment of its ability to identify, protect, respond, and recover from business disruptions.
  • Demonstrated thought leader with strong critical and analytical thinking skills to navigate complex issues and reach well supported conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication ability, articulating a range of complex issues clearly and persuasively as appropriate to audience.
  • Ability to complete complex assignments independently, successfully manage multiple assignments, and prioritize and delegate effectively to meet goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and build collaborative relationships across teams and geographies.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required and a Master's degree preferred. Relevant certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CISM, and CISSP are desirable.
  • Examiner commission and credentials or commensurate industry experience with auditing or risk management and controls required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel; position requires approximately 50% travel but may vary depending on circumstances.

  • Their borrowing relationships (Appendix B Parts I.1, II.1 and II.2)
  • If a financial institution employs a member of the employee's immediate family (i.e. spouse, child, parent, or sibling) (Appendix B Part I.3 and Part II.3)
  • If the individual was employed by the financial institution or affiliate within the past 12 months (Appendix B Part I.3 and II.3).
  • In certain cases, the recusal may be so extensive it could materially reduce the effectiveness of the prospective employee.
