The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and hard-working Lead Hazardous Waste Specialist to support regulatory compliance and safety of a federal hazardous waste program in Arlington, VA. The appropriately qualified applicant will demonstrate experience and working knowledge of hazardous waste management and regulatory requirements.This position will have oversight of all operations at a 90-day hazardous waste storage facility and work with one mid-level personnel on-site.  Daily operations include maintaining the facility, providing compliance support to the program, providing regulatory knowledge on RCRA questions, facilitating waste dropoffs and removal, and maintaining all associated records. This position is a hybrid position, being on-site four days a week from Monday through Thursday and working from home on Fridays.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Providing RCRA compliance support to a hazardous waste program on a military installationOperating a 90-day hazardous waste storage facilityScheduling and overseeing hazardous turn-ins, pick-ups, and documentationProperly packaging and storing hazardous wasteCompleting and maintaining facility inspection logsPreparing for visits from state hazardous waste inspectors and answering questionsPreparing hazardous waste, non-hazardous solid waste, and universal waste for disposal, including preparing waste profiles, bills of lading, shipping/tracking paperwork, and labeling as necessaryTransporting hazardous waste from temporary storage units within the installationMaintaining cradle to grave records of waste transported and disposed of off siteMaintaining inventories of hazardous waste receivedVerifying training requirements are met prior to receiving or managing hazardous wasteMaintaining digital records (database) of hazardous waste documents, personnel, and organization recordsConsolidating compatible waste streams to optimize utilization of container capacityDeveloping and submitting equipment maintenance / repair requestsMaintaining cleanliness of the hazardous waste facilitiesPreparing reports and documentationProviding spill response activities as support personnelReviewing manifests prior to government signature and maintaining manifest records/files
