Project Scope:

Our client has an immediate need for a Linux/ Websphere Engineer with the following skills and experience:

Responsibilities:

  • Administer WebSphere application server, support performance tuning, trouble shooting, configuration, deployments, and production operations
  • Provide technical support for enterprise Linux systems.
  • Deploy, troubleshoot, repair and recover from system failures in accordance with operating procedures
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation via the use of flowcharts, diagrams, and other relevant tools
  • Perform routine operational tasks, verifying the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all resources, systems, and key processes
  • Plan, prepare and apply maintenance fixes and upgrades to Webshere software
  • Review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs
  • Test application and system performance to identify potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work the with application owner or vendor to implement fixes
  • Install, configure, and maintain critical backup infrastructure and processes, including managing server and file restorations
  • Interact with senior engineers to identify areas of improvement for operational efficiency.
  • Accountable for delivering on all assigned tasks, projects and business reporting requirements.
  • Comply with Security, Incident Management and Change Management procedures and reporting practices
  • Remain an active learner in technologies related to your domain
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical personnel within and across PenFed departments and vendors
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members
  • Participate in on-call 24x7 support as needed in the event of system outage or failure

Requirements:

Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.

In lieu of a degree, combination of education and a minimum of five (10) years of related work experience is required that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to perform all the essential job functions.

  • Experience administering systems using SUSE Manager and Hawk
  • Experience supporting server patch management and security vulnerability remediations
  • Experience administering Websphere, Db2, zView, Apache and Tomcat
  • Strong background administering the lifecycle of RHEL and SUSE Linux systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills
  • Effective time management, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI Layers, TCP/IP, ACL)
  • Licenses and Certifications
  • Red Hat® Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • SUSE Certified Linux Engineer
  • Other related professional certifications are a plus
