ESSENTIAL DUTIES (list in order of importance)

This position is responsible for the following “job results”.

  • Performs massage therapy and touch modalities, which include Deep Tissue, Sport, Swedish, Aromatherapy, Prenatal and Reflexology.
  • Completes S.O.A.P. notes, maintains accurate documentation and filing of client files after each visit. Follows HIPAA compliance.
  • Conducts massage consultations, recommends stretches for clients at home maintenance, and provides guidance and wellness advice to clients.
  • Maintains the treatment rooms in a neat professional manner including stocking products and linens, cleaning and instrument sterilization. Replaces massage linens on tables so that the room ready for the next client.
  • Assists Spa in activities including staff meetings, promotions, and clean-up and housekeeping duties. Contributes to self-marketing strategies.
  • Assists with washing and folding of all linens used in treatment rooms.
  • Arrives fifteen (15) minutes prior to scheduled work time and may be required to stay fifteen (15) minutes later beyond work schedule if still with client.
  • Provide various types of massages for guests including Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and other massage techniques.
  • Conducts massage therapy and massage modalities as listed in the Spa brochure and Spa Menu unless otherwise indicated by Spa Manager.
  • Maintains and increases knowledge of massage therapy treatments by sharing technique skills with fellow massage staff during in-house instruction, and education/training classes provided by a Certified Massage Therapy Institution.
  • Presents a professional, well-groomed appearance; provided uniforms must be worn at all times in the Spa and must be laundered and pressed. Works effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Education or GED preferred West Virginia Massage License required

Experience: 1-3 years of prior experience preferred

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Resort experience beneficial
  • Guest Service Experience

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Any Alterra employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Alterra Driver’s Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors- the associate is frequently exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length at a time over an average shift of 8 hours
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, safety rules, work procedures, and instructions
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position- associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel
  • Attendance at all scheduled meetings and training sessions is required
  • All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per standards
  • This position is required to wear a uniform as stipulated by Resort standards
