A Day in the Role:
Reviewing of overdue medical bills
Communicate directly with patients regarding their financial responsibility from services
Document all calls timely and accurately in the patients’ account in the billing system
Establish payment arrangements per company policy
Manage outstanding self-pay accounts and status for management
Assist with other billing/collection duties, as needed
Researching why the insurance company has not paid this bill
Remittance review
EOB research
Deciding if this bill has errors and if so, where, following up on payment
Calling patients to pay bills
They then have to enter all this information into their EMR system, and ensure accuracy
Requirements:
2+ years experience in Collections experience or Medical claims follow-up
Diploma or GED required
EMR experience preferred
