Job Description

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries is looking for a qualified surface warfare officer to fill the role of Military Operations Analyst. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the Navy Warfare Development Center (NWDC) N2 Information Warfare Directorate in Norfolk, VA as an adversary subject matter expert. The incumbent conducts qualitative research and analyses for war games, exercises, experiments and other events and studies managed by NWDC.

Essential Job Responsibilities

NWDC conducts the Fleet 360 and Strike Group 360 War Games for fleet commanders, Fleet staffs, and Carrier Strike Group staffs. War game scenarios are tailored to the commander's objectives and generally informed by actual operations and plans that provide the context to facilitate staff planning. These war games are scalable and allow the commander to tailor staff and supporting element participation to meet game objectives. The candidate will take a leading role in portraying adversary/allied surface warfare platforms, weapons, and sensors using established doctrine, capabilities, and tactics. The candidate leverages current intelligence reporting from classified and unclassified sources and accurately represents adversary/allied maritime surface ship capabilities, weapon systems, doctrine and tactics. The candidate will liaise with external organizations to develop timely and accurate products to support multiple war games, exercises, and experiments. The candidate will create scenario material including intelligence reporting, messaging, assessments, handbooks, primers, etc. used for operational and tactical level scenarios. The candidate will provide operational level planning and tactical employment knowledge and intelligence support to the exercise control group for Fleet 360, Strike Group 360 and other related war games, experiments, and exercises.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience. • Educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience • Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience • Must have TS security clearance and be eligible for SCI access • Demonstrated understanding of naval surface warfare principles • Qualified candidates must have fleet operating, planning, and exercise experience • Must be proficient in MS Office applications and have advanced writing skills. Candidate will draft and deliver reports for senior officers and executive civilians • Must be able to work in a team and individual environment • Travel may be required

Preferred Requirements

• Former US Navy Surface Warfare Officer or significant experience in the maritime domain • Experience working as adversary force(s) during war games or exercises • Major maritime staff experience recommended • Experience with public speaking and briefing senior leaders • JSAF/JTLS experience or demonstrated modeling & simulation experience • Fundamental understanding of ballistic missile systems or land attack cruise missiles a plus
