Contract duration: Base year + 6 (1 - year options)

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience

Shift/Hours: 1st Shift, 7-4pm

Knowledge Management, Inc. (KMI) is seeking a Monitoring Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to provide IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.

The Monitoring Engineer will be a member of the CA/CST CAEIO Enterprise Operations Team, responsible for working closely with CAEIO contractors, DOS leadership and business stakeholders to monitor performance, faults and security service delivery and solutions to automating IT enterprise monitoring services and related business processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Monitoring Engineer working as embedded resource in the Enterprise Operations Center (EOC) to solicit new monitoring requirements, define those requirements, and submit them on behalf of stakeholders for development.
  • Identify tool-usage training needs within the operational teams; schedule and facilitate training and information sessions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced large operational enterprise with quickly shifting priorities
  • Supporting Monitoring Team with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and wide-ranging experience in infrastructure and systems full lifecycle management, to include Windows and Linux Virtual Machines (VMs), Networking components, physical servers, SQL Server and Oracle databases, virtual infrastructure, and a variety of storage devices.
  • Work with leadership and stakeholders across the organization to facilitate the proliferation of enterprise fault-and-performance monitoring tools.
  • Performance-and-fault management service delivery to Consular One Modernized platforms using Zabbix, Grafana, AppDynamics, Splunk, vRealize Operations Manager and other tools.
  • Self-reporting on weekly activities and tasks.
  • Assist in development and delivery of monitoring metric reporting and dashboards
  • Performance is measured by ability to troubleshoot, effectively communicate to enlist the help of others, and make an immediate, impactful difference in quantification of the enterprise.
QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience using enterprise management tools in an Enterprise Operations Center
  • Experience working in a Server, Network, Security or other Operations Center

Preferred Qualifications:
  • COTS integration, development, engineering, and administration
  • System Design and Full Lifecycle Management of Windows or Linux based systems
