Accepting Applicants for Proposal SubmissionCompass Government Solutions is seeking a MRI Technologist to provide services at the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

8-to-12-hour shifts. Coverage is required at all times (24/7) by a qualified MRI Technologist. Hiring for all shifts. Job Duties:Operates facility provided MRI system according to treatment facility policy and procedures, and IAW Joint Commission (JC) guidelines.Performs a full range of MRI examinations, with no additional training needed, or, minimal training for site-specific procedures.Receives and interpret requests or instructions for MRI examinations.Identifies abnormalities during testing and determine the need for additional sequences of affected area. Notify physician of significant findings requiring immediate attention.Maintains and cleans MRI equipment, control area, scan room and break room on a regular basis in accordance with MTF policy.Performs an inventory of assigned exam room to ensure adequate supply quantities with valid expiration dates. Stock and maintain established par levels of supplies required to perform MRI examinations per shift.Performs venipuncture/phlebotomy on patients requiring fluid administration and/or IV contrast.Works independently without supervision and performs all MRI exams according to the MRI SOP.Maintains professional competency via continuing education credits as required by the ARRT.Complies with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) standards of ethics for Radiologic Technologists.Prepares patients for MRI procedures, while ensuring safety and comfort. Set-up and adjust MRI equipment, including coils, positioning devices, monitors and other accessories, ensuring they are correctly positioned and functional.Performs ongoing quality assurance activities, ensuring the MRI system and equipment are functioning correctly and producing high-quality images daily per manufacturers recommendations.Troubleshoots equipment as needed and report issues to the MR supervisor.Always keep professional certifications current. Failure to renew certification before expiration will result in removal from work schedule.Set-up and/or adjust acquisition of gated images, using both cardiac and respiratory gating signals, including placement of cardiac electrodes and respiratory bellows.Communicates clearly and frequently with the patient while in the MRI scanner.Positions and verifies operation of visual and audio presentation equipment within the scanner and verify operation of patient response devices.Must have the ability to operate a computer keyboard and mouse on standard MRI scanner equipment.Continually monitors patients' conditions for potential medical or life-threatening crisis.Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of MR physics and its application to MRI, to include the effect of magnetic fields on implanted devices. (aneurysm clips, pacemakers, spinal cord stimulators, jewelry, prostheses, metal fragments, etc.) to ensure patient safety.Maintains vigilance for introduction of metallic and/or other prohibited materials into zone four (4) of the MRI suite. (Zone 4: where the highest magnetic field exists)Adheres to all written Department of Radiology administrative/clinical policies.Document all exam procedures and maintain records in accordance with MTF policy.Possess knowledge of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to enable transfer of completed images into PACS. Verify image transfer and if needed, reformat images according to protocol or radiologist specifications.Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying Biomedical and record the work order number.Observes and reports to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the patient's condition due to adverse reaction to contrast media. Inform the radiologist of any condition requiring their attention. Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.Adheres to MTF infection control guidelines and practice universal precautions.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work and make decisions independently are required.Completes all departmental orientation and competency programs in accordance with MTF policy.Reviews MRI images for quality control, contrast, density, detail, and adequate demonstration of anatomy. Select and set the technical factors, set up and adjust accessory equipment, and make images necessary for the requested procedures in accordance with department policy.Reports to the MRI Supervisor and/or the Director of Radiology
