The
Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,200 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities. NCIS provides the DON with threat status and warnings associated with terrorist, criminal, cyber, and counterintelligence activity throughout the world. NCIS is the only DON organization that has the information and responsibility to fuse and analyze the national intelligence and law enforcement information necessary to provide these warnings. The Digital Business Directorate (DBD) supports the NCIS core mission areas to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats by planning for and providing services through appropriate use of the people, equipment, technology, and infrastructure resources of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. This position is part of the IT Technology Development division within the NCIS DBD organization and performs the following functions:- Lead technician supporting the customers system operations branch
- Administrative supervisory role for a team of 20+ including system, network, compliance, and VTC admins
- Primary lead for NetApp storage systems
- Supports storage life-cycle processing to include ONTAP and filer upgrades
- Performs capacity management efforts for day-to-day storage operations
- Provides senior level storage support to include storage expansion, in-depth troubleshooting, network changes, and more
- Primary POC with NetApp vendors regarding support requirements
- Performs storage implementations to include: CIFS, NFS, iSCSI SAN
- Manages aggregate/volume space
- Coordinates storage requirements with application SMEs and implements
- Primary backup and recovery operator leveraging SnapCenter (Exchange/SQL) and Data Broker integration for VMware
- Experienced integration background with a broad reach of technologies to include:
- MS Windows server technologies (Server 2012/2016/2019) operating systems
- MS Exchange
- DNS, Active Directory, ADFS, DHCP, and additional domain services
- VMware virtualization
- Network switching and routing concepts and troubleshooting
- Produces and updates technical documentation
- Troubleshoots and coordinates problem resolution with application admins
- Coordinates system and application software updates
- Assists in the development and maintenance of internal standards and controls in accordance with customer policies and procedures
- Tests, installs, and documents requested programming support
- Ability to work with a diverse population and convey technical information into easy-to-understand concepts
- Ability to take lead on troubleshooting non-routine system/service disruptions
- Other related duties as assigned
- BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 15+ years of progressive support of information technology services
- 7+ years of supervisory and
- Strong NetApp storage systems (FAS) experience
- Active use managing Microsoft domain services to include AD, DNS, DHCP, ADFS/identity (concepts)
- VMware, experienced in working with virtual machines in and out of the vSphere environment, general virtualization concepts
- Required: Current DoD 8570 Level III (ex. CASP/CISSP) to start
- Required: Eligible and fully adjudicated to TS/SCI clearance to start
