Title: Network Engineer

Location: Merrifield, VA 22082

Rate: $115K to $125K W2, $60-65/HR W2, $70-75/HR 1099/CTC

This is a contract to hire role with a Gov’t Client. The position can be on a W2 or 1099 basis and will pay an annual salary of $115K to $125K or an hourly rate of $60-65/HR on a W2 basis and $65-75/HR 1099 or CTC. Compensation is dependent on experience. Benefits and PTO are being offered to those working on W2. Additionally, this positions requires a total of 10 years of Professional work experience (This does not have to be specific to the position and can be general work experience). This program only accepts US citizens, Green Card or Green Card EAD Holders. Visa Holders will not be considered due to Security Clearance being required. In addition, you MUST be able to pass a criminal background check. The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years.

Job DescriptionOur client is currently seeking a Network Engineer at their customer site in Merrifield, VA. The successful candidate will join a team of network engineers responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and integration of our federal client's Network Infrastructure at the national level and individual postal processing facilities.

What You'll Do
  • Provide design and ongoing support of local area networks and wide area networks used in mail processing applications.
  • Plan, design, build, configure, test, document, and implement both a physical and logical network infrastructure.
  • Configure routers and switches, with appropriate network communications protocols, and their implementation via network hardware and software.
  • Provide Tier 3 help desk support for resolving complex network problems involving multiple applications and organizations.

What You Must Have
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with all layers of OSI model and network communication protocols and working knowledge of Cisco hardware.
  • At least 5 years hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches and routers.
  • Ability to solve complex problems involving networks and application systems.
  • Ability to create network architecture solutions for new applications based on user requirements.
  • Experience with SolarWinds products and Sniffer software.
  • Ability to create technical documentation such as statement of work, technical presentations, and after action support reports.
  • Help Desk experience at the Tier 3 level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Bonus Points For
  • CCNA or better certification
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating systems including basic administration, communications and networking configurations.
  • Experience working in a virtualized environment
  • Knowledge of network traffic load balancing concepts
  • Experience with either Windows or Linux based scripting languages. (PowerShell/VBS or Python/Perl/Ruby/Bash)
