About the Opportunity

Provides research and analysis of technical data and problems of varying complexity in order to develop recommendations to solve problems and issues related to technical operations. Provides guidance in identifying, evaluating, and developing processes and procedures that are effective and meet requirements. Provides reporting and analysis to assist in executing solutions and may provide consultation to clients, colleagues, and management. Participates in cross-functional linked teams to address technical or systems issues. Determines best practices and suggests how to improve current practices. Associate level position requires general knowledge of field and industry practices.

Develops conceptual, logical and physical IT engineering designs, that support the infrastructure requirements of varying levels of technical and business application projects. Completes analysis of business requirements, as it relates to technical infrastructure design, and ensure traceability of the design to the business requirements. Assesses testing requirements and prepares testing strategies, as well as preparing implementation and transition plans.

Performs day-to-day network systems engineering activities in support of the Federal Reserve System. Supports network systems providing monitoring, management, problem determination and problem resolution as necessary. Provides network technical support to National IT, the Federal Reserve System and financial institutions. Participates in projects where network services are an essential component.

What You Will Do:
  • Performs analysis of business issues utilizing established methodology and tools within technology areas.
  • Works with the clients and other resources to assess current capabilities, identify the customer needs and assist in recommending process improvements.
  • Provides basic support and collaboration in completing analysis, providing ad-hoc reports, information or process mapping, and/or alignment of the business and related resources.
  • Contributes to process improvement and solution discussions and may contribute some outcomes in written and verbal format to management.
  • Assists in the development and design of new business processes and the elaboration and updating of existing business processes within technology areas.
  • Participates in cross-functional team initiatives and process improvement projects within technology areas.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Desired knowledge:
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN systems
  • Thorough knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Experience working with databases or database administration of MySQL, Maria, Oracle or Cassandra
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language: python, PHP, javascript, java, perl
  • Experience with HTML5 and building user interfaces
  • Knowledge of change control and code repositories
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills required to effectively participate in projects Strong verbal and written communications skills required in order to interact with team members make recommendations and report findings to peers, management and customers. Candidate must encourage collaboration.

Useful Skills:
  • Experience with monitoring software such as SolarWinds, IBM Tivoli, BMC Patrol, Nagios, SevOne or similar. Additional bonus for experience with AWS CloudWatch or Azure Monitor.
  • Experience in the network performance monitoring space, event management, or network configuration and compliancy space.
  • Experience in working with non-technical customers, taking requirements, and being able to determine if existing features can support customer's requirements.
  • Experience integrating with ITSM systems such as Remedy and ServiceNow
