My client, a reputable healthcare client is hiring for an Overnight ED Patient Access Tech!Job Description:
Currently the patient registration techs in the ED are divided into 3 areas and they will be trained on all areas-
Quick Book - this is the most basic patient registration when they walk into the ER. They will get the patient name, DOB, basic demographic info to get them checked in. There is no insurance verification at this point - they will go straight to the triage nurse to go over systems.
Minor Care - This is at the front (second desk) -insurance verification to confirm active policy, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiry functions. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems - getting the rest of the demographic info needed (up front provider who sees patient in triage room and one that sees patient in the waiting room)
Main Treatment Area- this is the same process as minor care however these are for more serious patients - full registration
They also have mental health registration, which they are seeing alot of recently
Patient Access Technician provides clerical and secretarial support for the patient care team and serves as a patient liaison for medical support services.
Greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area.
Facilitates the revenue cycle process to include but not limited to patient registration, insurance verification to confirm active policy, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiry functions.
Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems.
Works collaboratively with various departments on patient access related information.
Conducts pre-registration and entrance verification for CHKDHS services.
Provides coverage to assigned registration locations including those outside of primary work location or by task assignment based on operational needs
Qualifications to Apply:
Have to be able to work in high volume and high pressure environment
Strong customer service/patient experience
Currently willing to train if no registration experience Just looking for strong customer service and ability to work in a fast paced environment
Insurance knowledge is extremely helpful
Strong computer skills - they work in EPIC, Eclipses, PowerChart and FirstNet (after April 1, eclipses is going away and Revelate is their new EMR)
Need to be comfortable dealing with the traumas that come in as well as all illnesses- flu RSV
