Position Summary: Huntington Ingalls Industries: Mission Technologies Division is currently seeking an experienced Patent Preparation Specialist to support our work with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. Our ideal candidate will specialize in intellectual property, trademarks, design rights, copyright laws and patents. The Patent Preparation Specialist will support the NGA Technology Transition Office with software patent preparation of vendor and government software technologies. This position will be able to be performed remotely through access to the SBU which will be provided following hire. Candidates located near NGA West in St Louis, MO, NCE in Springfield, VA, or any NGA outpost would be preferred but not required.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of all patent application documentation for vendor and government software technologies identified by the Technology Transition Office
  • Ensure a controlled documentation system, record retention, and information services including electronic records retention processes in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance to the legal requirements from regulatory agencies
  • Assures procedures are in place to classify and maintain records
  • Interprets and enforces all documentation formatting, standards, policies, and operating procedure requirements
  • May analyze and evaluate data, extract pertinent information, prepare information abstracts and executive summaries of material searched
  • May maintain extensive knowledge of product information and continuous contacts with local, regional, and divisional customers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a registered Patent Attorney or Patent Agent
  • Candidate must have experience drafting and filing software patent applications with at least 3 applications filed in the past 18 months
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements

  • A US TS/SCI security clearance is preferred.
  • Candidates located near NGA West in St Louis, MO, NCE in Springfield, VA, or any NGA outpost would be preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
