IMG is seeking a full-time

Proposal Writer. This is a remote position based out of our Fairfax, VA or Cedar Rapids, IA locations.

Responsibilities

The Proposal Writer is responsible for the design, development, production, and on-time delivery of compliant, competent, and competitive responses to a wide variety of writing assignments. In addition to strong writing skills, the position requires proficiency in copyediting and document formatting. The Proposal Writer also will represent IMG as needed at meetings held by other companies or IMG customers.

Provide IMG and its teammates with strong writing and editing support, as well as related skills such as research (including interviewing subject matter experts, conducting research online, etc.), participation in storyboarding/brainstorming sessions, critical review of content (from copyediting to assisting in color team reviews as necessary), and document production support (layout, formatting, copying, binding, etc.). Provide design, development, production, and on-time delivery of compliant, competent, and competitive responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), as well as and responses to Sources Sought Notices, Requests for Information, Task Order RFPs, etc. Fully capable of delivering capabilities related to the job role with supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), data call requests, and other requirements documents to develop compliant responses.
  • Communicating with Proposal Manager to coordinate status of deliverables, resource needs;
  • Developing and maintaining proposal boilerplate inventory;
  • Providing publications support to other IMG departments as needed (e.g., writing articles for the in-house newsletter, providing website content, copyediting project work); and
  • Simultaneously managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production work environment that may entail prolonged work hours.
  • Design, development, production, and on-time delivery of compliant, competent, and competitive responses to RFPs, as well as Sources Sought Notices (SSNs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Task Order Proposals (RTOPs), etc.;
  • Analyze RFP requirements and develop compliance matrix, proposal schedule, proposal outline, and kickoff materials
  • As Part of the Business Development team provide support to the capture and proposal process to develop effective win themes and proposal strategies;
  • Support proposal kick-off, stand-up meetings, and color team reviews;
  • Write and develop custom proposal content (i.e., Executive Summary, Technical and Management Approach, Past Performance Descriptions);
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and revise/rewrite draft material provided by technical and other sources;
  • Monitor solicitation developments (amendments, answers to questions, etc.) in order to keep proposal updated, revising proposal outline/schedule/etc. as appropriate;
  • Copy/edit proposal content (Desk Top Publishing), including reviewing for compliance, accuracy, and completeness;
  • Create, develop and maintain proposal boilerplate inventory and resources

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • BA or BS in English, Journalism, or a related field AND at least 5 years of proposal writing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, producing, and delivering on-time compliant and competitive proposals.
  • Demonstrated experience writing federal IT proposals.
  • Experience developing DoD proposals.
  • Ability to perform with limited supervision/oversight.
  • Strong organizational skills and time-management capabilities, as well as written and verbal communications skills. The successful candidate will be equally adept at drafting a brief corporate marketing piece.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop skills as a Proposal/Capture Professional is desired as well.
  • Willingness to take initiative and obtain industry knowledge of the Federal Market.
  • Facility with advanced features of MS Word are required for performing document design, layout, and formatting; as are skills in the use of MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Suite. Experience using SharePoint experience is preferred.

  • Training in proposal development (e.g., Shipley or Association of Proposal Management Professionals coursework) is a plus, as are relevant certifications (e.g., project management, MS Office, Adobe, IT certifications).
  • Prior experience with DOD and/or IC work in either a military or government position highly desired.

Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen with an ability to obtain a government security clearance. Active Secret and/or TS Clearance preferred but not required
