Public Communications Specialist (PEOC3T-22-1011-F): Bowhead is seeking a Public Communications Specialist, Senior to support Futures and Concepts Center (FCC), Army Futures Command (AFC) Communication Team at Fort Eustis, VA. The Public Communications Specialist is responsible for content creation, management and coordination of written public affairs planning and operational documents; to include but not limited to, Communication Plans, Public Affairs Guidance, public affairs annexes that explain activities public affairs will be developing, articles, media releases, talking points and social media posts for a major U.S. Army program executive office client. Responsibilities to include: • Conduct Public Affairs operational planning • Support/Assist Media relations coordination • Review and promote internal/external articles • Coordinate ComRel events and activities with Joint Base Langley Eustis PAOs • Develop Read Aheads staff products • Speech Writing • On-site leadership facilitation • Public affairs Analysis/ assessments / Relationship-building; coordination with Joint/ Army staff counterparts Requirements In accordance with Executive Order 14042: Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, candidates should be aware that they may be required to have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. • A bachelor's degree, and a minimum of five years' experience managing government programs is required. • Defense Information School (DINFOS) certified/trained in the Public Affairs Qualification Course preferred. • Knowledge of communication principles, methods, practices and techniques to develop public affairs projects aimed at enhancing the understanding of groups or individuals opposed or indifferent to significant aspects of the agency. • Familiarization and knowledge of the US Army Public Affairs Doctrine and regulations: FM 3-61 Public Affairs Operations and AR 360-1 The Public Affairs Program • Ability to communicate through journalistic writing, copy writing/editing and screenwriting • Ability to prepare and/or edit written correspondence, ensuring proper use of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation • Candidate must have working knowledge of social media methodology and practices • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station less than 30% of the time • Skilled in strategic engagement to work on a team supporting various Army communication campaigns and programs • The ability to prepare and deliver briefings and status reports to senior leadership, consultative skill; develop relationships with other staff personnel • Effective communication with a wide range of groups including internal and external customers and stakeholders • Experience in planning for and supporting activities and events (engagements, conferences, etc.), supporting both traditional and non-traditional media, development and use of exhibits and collateral materials (banner stands, posters, brochures, etc.) • Experience in corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, communication outreach and planning, to include event coordination, speech writing; and a knowledge of branding, media relations and social media • Microsoft Office and Adobe program(s) experienced
