We are seeking for a team player with solid technical skills to work with our team of smart, creative, and dedicated engineering team-members. This position is based out of our Herndon, VA location with the option of a remote work schedule. The candidate will be responsible for researching emerging market and technology trends, developing proof-of-concept demonstrations for future products and technologies, and providing technical leadership for the organization. Working closely with both engineering and product management, this individual well help determine the roadmap for iDirect Government products and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the technological landscape that iDirect Government products are a part of, and where our products fit into the larger market space.
  • Developing a system or solution level vision for both our products and the components that they are integrated with in the field.
  • Continuously reviewing new and emerging technologies for potential integration into the organization's current and future products.
  • Developing proof-of-concept demonstrations for new products and technologies.
  • Providing cross-domain (hardware, software, test, operations) support to the development teams to aid in solving design issues that span multiple disciplines.
  • Working with Systems Engineering to develop internal documents that define functionality, interfaces, and protocols for key elements of current and future products.
  • Participating in design reviews for both hardware and software to help ensure that the solutions being implement align with the overall vision for the system.
  • Supporting the Sales and Product Management team with both customer engagements and responding to new business opportunities as they emerge.

Qualifications

Related Experience:
  • 10 + years of experience
  • Broad cross-domain expertise with detailed knowledge in at least one of the following: Embedded Software, Embedded Hardware, RF Hardware, Networking, SatCom , and/or Tactical Communications
  • Ability to break complex systems down into simplified sub-systems that can be independently defined, developed, and deployed.
  • Demonstrated ability to stand up new technology demonstrations with little or no support/existing knowledge from internal resources.
  • Experience developing and debugging systems with complex interactions between hardware and software.
  • Practical experience in the use of test equipment (Spectrum analyzer, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzers, DC loads, etc.)
  • Experience with scripting (VB, C#, Perl, Tcl /Tk, Python, Ruby, Bash) for the purpose of integration and test automation.
  • Experience with some programming language such as Python, Java, Lua, Ruby, Golang or C/C
  • Experience working within an Agile environment, including the use of Jira to plan and track work is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Linux is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with IP Networking protocols and standards is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills to support integration, both internally and working with vendors.
  • Must possess the skills needed to analyze and resolve hardware, software, product, and instrumentation issues experienced during the development and testing of our products.

Education: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field from an accredited University/College.
