U.S. Military Personnel is Strongly encouraged to apply.What You Will Do: Maximus is seeking a Tier 1 Security Engineer to join our SOC engineering team. Our engineers are pushed to be great and grow their skill sets every day. Responsibilities• Monitor, build and operate cybersecurity tools, such as Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Firewalls, SIEM, Vulnerability Management, Host Based IDS (HIDS), etc.• Develop detection content, rules, and searches for malicious behavior• Apply DevOps and automation to Security Tools• Manage underlying servers, databases, and technologies.• Monitor a large-scale environment for performance anomalies.• Research the latest cyber tools, trends, threats, and detection content.• Participate in blue team defense exercises• Identifies and resolves false positive findings in assessment results• Complete and review documentation for projects or any operational effort• Provide system performance monitoring and troubleshooting• Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned• Other activities as assignedExperience/Expertise:• Experience analyzing threat event data, evaluating malicious activity, documenting unusual files and data, and identifying tactics, techniques, and procedures used by attackers.• Technical expertise in system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, network and web-related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, etc.)• Python, Ansible, Splunk, Gitlab/Github experience preferred• Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one• An ability to effectively influence others to modify their opinions, plans, or behaviors.• An understanding of business needs and commitment to delivering high-quality, prompt, and efficient service to the business• An understanding of organizational mission, values, and goals and consistent application of this knowledgeRequired Skills:Application MUST be able to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance and MUST be a U.S. Citizen.High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required with 2 years of work experience. A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. A bachelor's degree in a related discipline and academic experience with the required skills would be the equivalent of 2 years of work experience. 2 years experience supporting cybersecurity-related tasks1 year of Splunk experience. 2 years experience in managing network devices. 2 years experience working in collaborative team environments.1 year experience with managing a network or working in a SOC. 2 years experience creating/managing virtual machines or 1 year experience managing using vSphere2 years experience with Windows Terminal/Powershell.
