ICF is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to support a science and engineering innovation program. Your work will contribute to enabling the U.S. to uphold its leadership in innovation in science and engineering, helping to support the National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP) program. NSF is a federal agency that is one of the world’s largest funders of basic research. You would reside in the TIP front office and would work with your fellow, federal Communication Specialists to develop and support directorate, division, office, and program communication and outreach campaigns, messaging, products, project timelines, and other tasks as needed. Additionally, you would be working with other communication and creative support, embedded within TIP divisions and programs, as well as the NSF Office of Legislative and Public Affairs.This role is based in Alexandria, VA. This is an opportunity to contribute to important communications projects from its beginning and all while building a great career at ICF! You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with multiple project and communication needs happening in parallel. You’ll be a part of implementing the high-level communication strategy to streamline communication systems and projects as well as the development of the long-term communication plan.Key Responsibilities:Develop and provide strategic communication plans, including overseeing strategy, engagement, creative and materials development and delivery.

Create email marketing campaigns and content to engage TIP audiences, internal and external, with experience building engagement campaigns that build on key messages and drive potential customers to apply for NSF funding.

Develop, coordinate, produce and maintain marketing and communication materials and provide creative direction to graphic design/creative teams to develop imagery to compliment products.

Ability to define, refine and maintain evaluation metrics, KPIs for communication and outreach plans, campaigns, and specific communication tasks.

Draft and edit content for the NSF.gov website, articles, speeches, presentation briefs, social media engagements, Congressional taskers, Dear Colleague Letters, and funding opportunities, as needed, to ensure one voice and consistent messaging.

Assist in the promotion of webinars and development of content and product aligned to the webinars.

Required Qualifications/Skills:Seasoned communicator and communications strategist, with 10 or more years of experience, who has worked in fast-paced government agencies and preferably a research and development agency.

Strong writer and editor strong in science/technology/innovation writing, such as reports on scientific findings, articles/storytelling, website content, digital/social media content for external audiences.

Experienced in developing communication plans, strategies, and project plans that include but are not limited to goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), key messages, stakeholders, and tactics.

Ability to define, refine and maintain evaluation metrics, KPIs for communication and outreach plans, campaigns, and specific communication tasks.

Create email marketing and outreach campaigns and content to engage and grow TIP external audiences (e.g. research community, academia, industry, government stakeholders). This communicator must have experience with building engagement campaigns that build on key messages and drive potential customers to apply for NSF funding.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, social media platforms (e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram), and proficient in Drupal (preferred), Google Analytics, GitHub, Granicus GovDelivery (preferred), Salesforce, Pardot, and Adobe Suite.
