ASSYST is looking for Senior Data Scientist / Engineer, located in the NOVA / Washington, DC Metro Area to join our Data Science Innovation team. The current focus is on Information Assurance and Cybersecurity datasets for actionable insight. We work on many high-impact projects that serve various Federal Agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Non-Profit and Commercial Organizations, to support their lines of business while fostering continuous innovation.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for collecting and interpreting data, analyzing results, and reporting the results back to the relevant members of the business
  • Identify patterns and trends in Cybersecurity data sets
  • Identifies problematic areas and conducts research to determine the best course of action and develops recommendations.
  • Uses experience in visualization techniques to drive model results and depict relevant process trends.
  • Demonstrates analytic capabilities with an understanding of correlation, optimization, and time series analysis.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of analysis and computational complexity and ability to programmatically solve.
  • Engage directly with cybersecurity SMEs to identify and define use-cases and requirements.
  • Engage in continuous data reporting improvement activities to facilitate faster risk responses
  • Provide actionable information to enable agency leadership to make risk-based decisions to fix critical problems first
  • Work with Cybersecurity analysts and Report Developers to support the development of processes and technologies that solve cybersecurity problems.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or Statistics
  • Relevant experience as a data scientist, data analyst, and data engineer applying predictive modeling techniques and analytics to develop actionable insights
  • Possesses strong knowledge of security research, statistics, programming, data mining, machine learning, algorithms, and advanced mathematics.
  • Significant experience working with relational databases and associated query/extraction languages.
  • Programming skills such as in Python and SQL
  • SQL language proficiency and Some noSQL familiarity
  • Experience designing schemas and database structures.
  • Understanding of data modeling.
  • Understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, security and monitoring).
  • Experience extracting, converting and loading data into relational structures.
  • Snowflake (nice to have, not required)
