Roles & Responsibilities Evaluating existing data systems. Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows. Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system. Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility. Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models. Updating and optimizing local and metadata models. Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency. Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems. Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions. Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models. Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy. Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects. Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata. Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models. Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments. Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions. Develop data models according to company standards. Guide System Analysts, Engineers, Programmers and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Skills 12 years of Strong data modelling experience Physical data modelling on AWS PostgreSQL, Aurora, relational databases 10+ years of experience in a professional work environment 8+ years of experience with data modeling 5+ years of experience with Oracle DB 5+ years of experience writing SQL Queries, acquiring data from primary and secondary data sources and maintaining databases 3+ years of AWS RDS/Aurora experience Experience in data analysis or Business Intelligence systems including Tableau, PowerBI, or ArcGIS Experience interpreting data, analyzing results and using statistical technique Experience with large scale Data systems (500 millions to 1 billion data records 50 TBs of data) Experience identifying and applying methods to cleansing data quality issues Experience managing Logical and Physical Data models and in translating functional artifacts into data requirements Experience in establishing data dictionaries, data models and documenting technical requirements Experience development and implementing data analysis, data collection systems and other strategies to optimize statically efficiency and quality Experience interpreting and understanding complex business processes and breaking it down into data requirements. Experience in conducting functional testing of business intelligence visualization objects Experience working in Agile environment Experience with XML and JSON data models.
