Senior DevOps Engineer As the Lead DevOps Engineer you will lead a team of DevOps Engineers to maintain and optimize a real-time, scalable platform and to support ongoing development. You will build, mentor, and motivate a world-class DevOps team that can leverage cutting-edge software delivery methods and implement operational best practices in an Agile environment. The company is the global leader in mobile, cloud-based access control for commercial real estate, multifamily residential, and large distributed enterprises. Their comprehensive product ecosystem and open API provide businesses with powerful digital tools to increase security automation, elevate employee and tenant experience, and improve the safety of all people and assets in the built environment. This position will remain 100% remote, but the candidate must be local to the D.C. Metro Area.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Foster SRE culture specifically focused on managing the relationship between operations and engineering teams
  • Facilitate and guide SW Engineering feature implementations with metrics and logging standards
  • Collaborate with the information security team to implement new security tools and systems
  • Maintain development and production environments for engineering teams in accordance with corporate SLA
  • Lead team projects and initiatives from inception to rolloutmanaging team deliverables and dependencies while communicating timelines and expectations to stakeholders
  • Provide knowledgeable, confident, high-level support within the organization to resolve internal and external customer issues
  • Assist in developing, implementing and enforcing policies to enhance physical, network and system security
  • Mentor team members to improve processes and promote best practices
  • Promote continuous learning and improvement of development and quality strategies

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Must have specific experience working in as an SRE
  • Working experience supporting change management in a nimble environment
  • Working knowledge of incident response best practices including timely messaging
  • Experience supporting SOC2 compliance
  • Ability to provide performance management for individual contributors
  • Very strong in-depth hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services, including but not limited to: EC2, ALB/ELB/NLB, S3, RDS, VPC, Route53, CLI/API, API Gateway, CloudFront, Lambda
  • Experience with the following:
    • Support and maintenance of large commercial distributed software installations
    • Working in a fast-paced 24/7 operations shop - responding to and identifying potential and active issues and determining a course of action
    • Familiarity configuring and tuning monitoring tools such as DataDog, ELK, etc.
    • Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using Jenkins or similar
    • Configuration management software (Chef) and Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
    • Scripting in Python, Bash, and/or Powershell
    • Designing, implementing, and supporting service provider (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, etc.) environments
    • Experience supporting message bus queuing systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, RabbitMQ, etc.
