Job Summary

Join Maximus' Technology Consulting Services team delivering mission critical technology-focused capabilities supporting the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Special Access Programs Information Technology (DCIO SAP IT).

We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join our team in Arlington, VA, who can interface and interact with the DCIO SAP IT and immediate staff to create, track, and manage technical documentation in a timely manner. Additionally, the candidate will create tailored documents for the client and manage them throughout the approval process as well as reviewing, editing, and facilitating document approval for other authors in the program.

This position is also responsible for developing, publishing, managing, and closing out meeting minutes at the program governance level. The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Technical Writing. In addition, the role will perform research, writing and editing in conformance with established government standards with an aim to strengthen interoperability and champion departmental focus areas of cloud, cybersecurity and C3 efforts.

Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Serve as the administrative point of contact for documents and document approval.
  • Receive, disseminate, coordinate, and track to completion all incoming tasks.
  • Coordinate special events, meetings, conferences, and work groups.
  • Provide correspondence staffing support and oversight for all required correspondence actions (e.g., formal letters, memoranda, read-ahead briefing and meeting packages, activity reports, and senior leadership reports)
  • Perform technical writing and editing, editorial consultation, proofreading, and overall documentation review.
  • Develop documentation that meets organizational standards including project plans, directives, charters, appointment letters, white papers, SOPs, and governance documents.
  • Prepare and assist in the development of briefings and multimedia presentations.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update informational packages.
  • Action Officer for governance boards to include meeting facilitation, note taking, action item follow-ups, publication of notes and meeting minutes.
  • Organize, curate, and maintain the electronic document repository as directed.
  • Execute actions plans to support program strategic objectives.
  • Advise government clients on reducing cyber threats, optimizing IT buying power and Support program management activities through developing analytic, technical reports, information papers and briefings for senior decision-makers.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • 10+ years' experience working in support of DoD programs.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating technology solutions into business designs and business models.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Department of Defense Special Access Programs
  • Experience working in direct support to a Flag/General Officer, and Senior Executive Service leaders.
  • Experience working at the OSD, Joint Staff or Service Staff level.
  • Experience working with programs supporting DoD IT modernization objectives.
  • Possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills om order to operate within the DoD environment.
  • Possess interpersonal skills and experience supporting decision making for senior DoD leadership.
  • Understand the JCIDS, PPB&E and POA&M processes!
  • Experience working with software engineering teams to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content.
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.
  • Must have strong understanding of DoD correspondence styles, uses, and formats.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards.
