Job Summary

The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

The Modeling and Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for government and commercial customer needs. We enable detailed and complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of space.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Independently provide deep technical expertise, innovation, and project coordination/leadership onefforts to grow and sustain the sub-division's modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities in teams with multi-disciplinary technical leaders across the company, AerospaceProgram Office personnel, and external customersto define and address customer needs
  • Partner with sub-division analysis leads to advise key stakeholders and government customers by leading customer engagement efforts on a range of modeling and simulation workflows within the sub-division.
  • Serve as main point of contactfor multiple programs and/or activities for major department-level technical efforts tokey Aerospace Program Offices and externalcustomers.
  • Serve as a key mentor to junior technical staff in one or more department focus areas.
  • Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate software development progress and provide recommended design solutions to technical leads, management, and customers
  • Manage the development and maintenance of one or more corporate M&S tools and associated workflows.
  • Engage with software users and customers to refine capability requirements
  • Conduct software architecture design and assist with the integration of new workflows to meet customer needs
  • Travel as necessary to support customer efforts

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines from an accredited university
  • Professional experience in software development, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines
  • Proficiency in one or more of the department's core computer languages (e.g., Fortran, C, Python, Matlab, etc.)
  • Professional experience in technical writing and technical presentation
  • Demonstrated technical and team leadership
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Experience in designing modern software architectures for deployment on Windows and Linux platforms

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Graduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other STEM-related discipline from an accredited university
  • Professional experience with successfully developing new capabilities for analysis tools, workflows, or related efforts
  • Professional experience in space-related modeling, simulation, and analysis
  • Professional experience in advanced mathematical or physics topics
  • Professional experience in modern software development, integration, and testing practices
  • Experience interfacing with program office personnel and government customers
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance
  • Extensive experience in modern software architecture design for deployment on Windows and Linux platforms

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
