Job Summary/Company:

A Sparks Group Partner is seeking a Software Development Engineer to develop web-based reporting systems and frameworks using Java, JSP, JavaScript, JDBC, MySQL, HTML on Linux/Unix platforms for financial or telecommunications systems. This position is in Reston, VA; however, they are open to selected candidate working 100% remote. Responsibilities:

  • Design and document software components that meet organization and industry standards
  • Code high quality software components in accordance with organization standards, technical requirements, and detailed designs
  • Participate in design/code reviews and collaborate with the team
  • Provide updates to the Development Manager and/or Technical Lead about the status and potential impacts on the delivery date and/or expected quality of tasks and projects
  • Collaborate with team members to develop technical documentation
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to Customer Delivery and Operations to resolve issues

Qualifications/Background Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
  • 7+ years of experience developing complex, reliable software systems based on Java
  • Expertise in Java (6.0 or higher), JSPs, JDBC and OO Methodology
  • Expertise with Relational or Time Series Database design
  • Experience with IDE; Eclipse is preferred
  • Experience working on/developing software for Linux/Unix/Solaris platforms
  • Complete development life cycle experience from design through implementation
